God Hates You

Well, it looks like we have our first deck ready to be tuned and tweaked to reach A New Plateau, so let's dive right in!

This deck comes from Jeff Lambert of Fort Worth, Texas with a deck using massive board control and some late game flying beatdown

Okay, this deck looks good in theory, but has some major work that needs to be done before it would be able to take on most of the decks in the current type two field.
 
First let's look at the board control...
 
4 Wrath of God

A good deal here, we can probably drop a Rout to the sideboard, as 8 maindeck "wrath" effects is probably not needed.
 
Now the countermagic...
 
4 Absorb
4 Counterspell
 
Good job on picking two of the better countermagic spells in the format, but we need something else to ensure we can counter spells even if we don't have the precious UU available to cast either of these.

Wow, you sure like to kill enchantments and artifacts, huh?  Well that's all well and fine, but I think 8 maindeck dedicated "disenchant" spells may be a bit overkill also.  The Story Circles are great, but possibly need to be moved to the sideboard, since you generally will be blowing up all the creatures on the board, and you may only need them against recursive damage sources (Pyre Zombie, Nether Spirit,  Hammer of Bogarden, etc..)

Well, you have some fine ones there too, but perhaps we can trim this down and shape it up a bit.
 
The land count is a bit low for control decks in general, and the use of Rishadan Port in this deck isn't right - since you are going to need to have mana available to counter spells.
 
No Sideboard was made yet according to Jeff, so I'll use some of the cards I've taken out of the deck for sideboard cards, and add some of my own thoughts...

And there you have it, the new deck has Power Sink added to the countermagic, Wash Out gives you a great answer to those rush decks when you need to buy a turn or two to find your Wrath or Rout. The Brainstorms will help find the cards you need when you need them, plus it will improve your mana consistency - assuring you of getting the WW or UU you may be needing.  The Chimeric Idols were dropped due to the tap out to activate cost that he has - it's just too hard for you to do that every turn for a few points of damage.  Instead - We added some more flexibility to the deck, and just upped the count on Mageta (giving you another solid creature and another board control pseudospell)
 
The Sideboard features the Story Circles from the original design, as well as the 4th Rout. The Sideboard also give the deck a transformational sideboard.  Allowing the player to switch to a Millstone control deck if faced with another low creature or no creature control matchup.  The Mana Shorts will also help in the control matchup.  The only additional creature control on the board was the addition of Teferi's Moat - which can bring some deck types to a grinding halt.  
 
Feel free to mess around with the deck to suit your local metagame accordingly...
