Anticipate

If you're not familiar with the Mirage block, look up the card Impulse on Gatherer, and then consider how similar this card is. It's tweaked just enough to make it statistically harder to chain it into another copy, but looking at three cards should still find something useful most of the time. This style of card has such a high pedigree that its very existence should tempt you into looking for powerful combinations among Standard-legal cards.

Today's card of the day is Anticipate which is a two mana Blue instant that has you look at the top three cards of your library, put one into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library. This is the latest addition to the Ponder style of card design and is noticeably weaker with the increased mana cost and reduced options for library manipulation.  It is still strong as a one for one and two mana upgrade and somewhat deck filtering, so it will see play in current formats even if it is a bit less likely to appeal to more expansive settings.

In Limited this is a useful card to help improve most situations for the low cost of two mana which makes it an excellent topdeck and playable at any time.  In Booster it can be drafted early after a Blue first pick and in Sealed there is no reason not to include it whenever it is in color for the build.
