Fabled Hero

As a creature whose heroic ability improves his combat stats, Fabled Hero is in the same general category as Phalanx Leader; while Phalanx Leader makes a group of creatures difficult to deal with, Fabled Hero is more of a high-risk high-reward situation, and has the potential for explosive blowouts. That practically begs to be built around, and this is probably the best time ever to try and do so. And besides, there's no reason you can't run both!

Today's card of the day is Fabled Hero which is a three mana White 2/2 with Double Strike and the Heroic ability of gaining a +1/+1 counter whenever you cast a spell that targets it.  A three mana 2/2 with Double Strike is already playable, particularly with two supported types like human and soldier, but adding in the benefit from being targeted and you have a card that should be very popular in White tribal decks.  Both the Heroic and Double Strike effects benefit from many auras or combat tricks and adding this into decks, or building around it, is likely to make this a frequent sight in a variety of formats and designs.

In Limited the double White is a bit of a drawback, as is the low base toughness leaving some vulnerability to removal, that is more than made up for by the Double Strike and synergy with the Heroic effect.  As with other Heroic cards the set offers no shortage of cards to trigger the effect which makes supporting it with draft choices fairly easy and viable even if Fabled Hero is not in play. The potential threat is impressive and even with the drawback it is a great first pick in Booster and automatic inclusion for any Sealed using a reasonable number of White mana sources.

Thank goodness it is Friday! Today I get the privilege to review Fabled Hero. This human has double strike which is great by itself. Fabled Hero also gets a +1+1 counter every time that you cast a spell targeting him. Can you imagine the possibilities? In Standard right now you have Arial Maneuver, Phytoburst, Ranger’s Guile and Enlarge. Did I forget to mention Gift of Orzhova and Unflinching Courage? Fabled Hero is an amazing card for white agro players. Casual players should have some fun with this guy. Fabled Hero is a fun card to play around with and can easily get out of control. Now, go forth and abuse your opponents!

Welcome back readers todays card of the day is a powerful heroic creature, double strike is an amazing ability and putting it on a creature that grows incrementally bigger is an amazing creature. In standard I can see this card being slotted into enchantment based decks as it is one of the most powerful recipient of enchantment spells transforming it into a monstrous creature. In modern and eternal formats its sort of expensive and requires an investment but can single handedly end games making it somewhat of a potential candidate. In casual and multiplayer it’s a powerful card with powerful tribal support and is easy to slot into enchantment based decks. In limited it’s a solid pick for a deck as it is a threatening creature and even solid without added support. Overall a card guaranteed to see some amount of constructed and casual play.
