Hypersonic Dragon

This blistering addition to the ranks of the Izzet is an incredibly useful ally in accelerating a battle strategy or an experimental new spell. Alacrity is always a valuable tool, as a member of the Firemind's fold need not be limited and should be able to implement his plans and hypotheses at the speed of his own miraculous thoughts. Hypersonic Dragon enables just such a state, allowing old successful sorceries to be leveraged in new ways and in response to new scenarios untested by previous Izzet technicians. Its abilities as a large, incredibly fast predator of the sky are also a welcome addition to any research team, as any Izzet should be appropriately awed by even such a creature in the image of their glorious parun.

Hypersonic Dragon

I'm assuming this card's playtest name was one or more of "Speed Force," "M In Shazam," and "The Only Member of Cyberforce Who Is Actually Appealing". I have a feeling this guy will become famous more for the funny things and huge plays he enables - end of turn Obliterate springs to mind, and also Insurrection in response to an opponent's attack - but haste is the best ability you can put on a big dragon, and this is one of the last cards your opponent wants to see coming at him after a Day of Judgment.

Today's card of the day is Hypersonic Dragon which is a five mana Blue/Red 4/4 with Flying, Haste, and allows your sorcery spells to be cast at instant speed.  The cost is very aggressive and having Haste with evasion is always a welcome combination.  The effect adds quite a bit of flexibility to a deck built with it in mind and is the primary reason to consider this over Thundermaw Hellkite. Overall even though better options exist it doesn't make this a bad card and in the right design it certainly has value.

For Limited evasion with Haste on a 4/4 for five is a first pick in nearly any Booster pack and a solid starting point for every Izzet deck in Sealed.  The casting cost is manageable with just one of each color and the effect can promote a more intellectual and difficult to oppose style for your opponent to deal with.

Welcome to another great card of the day review here at Pojo.com! Today we are looking at Hypersonic Dragon from Return to Ravnica. Hypersonic Dragon is a rare multicolored creature dragon that costs three generic and one red and one blue mana. Hypersonic Dragon is a 4/4 with flying and haste. Hypersonic Dragon says that you may cast sorcery spells as though they had flash.

I love the Hypersonic Dragon. The ability to cast your sorceries as though they had flash may not seem like much, and in Standard, it may seem downright useless. But when you think about things, it can be truly amazing. One of the better cards that you could use the Hypersonic Dragon to help exploit is Inaction Injunction. The flash ability to detain a creature and draw a card is pretty nice.

But perhaps the best purpose this card can serve is in a Grixis themed discard deck. Since most cards that force discarding are sorceries, your opponent has opportunities to cast spells, even when you are locking them down. With the Hypersonic Dragon, your discard spells can fly in at instant speed to force your opponent to discard what they just drew.
