Signal Pest

Pretty powerful for a one-mana artifact creature. The evasive ability not only allows it to charge into the Red Zone without fear despite its tiny body, but also makes it a prime candidate to carry Equipment. Its colorlessness allows you to throw it into any creature-based deck for an offensive boost or a warm body. And its low cost makes it good in a metalcraft deck as well as a battle cry deck, especially when you consider all the small offensive creatures white has that get bigger or more combat-capable when metalcraft is achieved. Although it does seem a bit strange to be attacking with a 0/1. Here's hoping you've got lots of battle cry, or at least plenty of good Equipment for the Pest to carry.

Signal Pest

"Plains, Signal Pest, Memnite, Mox Opal, Kuldotha Rebirth; untap, attack for like a hundred." "End of turn, Scatter the Seeds, untap, Overrun, attack for like two hundred." "Coat of Arms, Mirrorweave, attack for 9,001." All this and more, made possible by a 0/1 creature, for goodness sake. Signal Pest is a card everyone can do something with, a true home run.

Welcome back readers today's card of the day is Signal Pest a powerful battle cry creature for aggressive decks. In standard this card is seeing play in hyper aggressive decks such as Kuldotha Red, combining this with a kicked Goblin Bushwacker and zero drops such as Ornithopter can put an opponent in an uncomfortable position. In extended it once again finds a place in hyper aggressive decks some revolving around artifacts. In eternal perhaps in an aggressive affinity build but I doubt this card will make a huge impact. In casual and multiplayer it is good for aggressive decks elves goblins, possibly infect creatures Signal Pest's evasion also makes it a powerful choice as opponents can be hard pressed to block to remove it. In limited its an artifact for metalcraft and its battle cry ability can help race opponents. Overall a powerful card that fills a niche quite nicely.

Today's card of the day is Signal Pest which is a one mana 0/1 with Battle Cry and a form of evasion allowing it to be blocked only by creatures with Flying or Reach.  This can work well with swarm decks, but not dealing damage itself requires some support to take full advantage of the evasive nature.  In the right build this is a very aggressive card and a nice addition that can be added to nearly any color or theme with little to no major modifications.  Another option is a dedicated artifact deck or one that runs equipments or instants that can power up the Pest itself it can be a bit more of a threat.

In Limited this can be a difficult card to work with as you may not have the pool to really take advantage of either ability.  Playing it too early may see it without another creature to power up and topdecking it may not be a benefit, but aside from those situations it can work quite well.  Any equipments attached to it make it difficult to address and the +1/+0 to another creature, or more, on the attack is always welcome.  Regardless of your Sealed pool this should be included for the potential it offers while in Booster it can be drafted relatively early as a useful support card.

Welcome to another card of the day review here at Pojo.com. Today we wrap up Artifact Week with a look at Signal Pest. Signal Pest costs just one generic mana for a 0/1 with Battle Cry and cannot be blocked except by creatures with flying or reach. While it may not look like much, I feel that the Signal Pest easily could help you run your opponent into the ground, fast.

All in all it just looks like another common, something Wizards tossed in to fill some gaps. However, when used to it’s fullest potential, it could very well be a center point of some amazing deck design ideas, and in itself, very lethal. Let’s say it is turn two, on turn one you dropped one Signal Pest, now you just played to more. Providing they survive your opponent’s turn, you will swing for 6 damage that unless they dropped a flier or something with reach they have to take. Add in some other Battly Cry cards, such as Goblin Wardriver, and that will take its toll fast. Not to mention, get to Spiraling Duelist, and for every Signal Pest you have, it helps her get Double Strike, and pump her when they all attack. Not to mention that it makes using the Raid Bombardment card from Rise of the Eldrazi that much more fun.

Not exactly a card that can be broken and turned into some amazing combo that destroys everything, leaving a crater in its wake. Just a very usable common that should pump several of your decks, not just red ones. Signal “Pest”, I think not, Signal “Support”, why yes, yes it is.
