Volcanic Fallout

Take that, Faeries! I just wiped the board of your little guys at instant speed! And you can't counter it! Only my 4/4 remains! Muhahahaha!

Friday - Volcanic Fallout

One of the breakout cards of Conflux, as many people expected. This gives any deck that can produce double red an answer to Faeries, the dominant deck of the last year. It can also sweep the board of weenies against decks like R/W and B/W, and it even slaps them for 2 damage in the process. This is better than Pyroclasm in pretty much every way, and is one of the reasons why 5-color control was able to perform so well this past weekend. If you're running red in standard, you should be running at least a couple of these main or sided. Just watch out, because cards like Burrenton Forge-Tender can still stop it.

In limited, uncounterable board control can swing the game in your favor. I'd definitely play this if I felt like I could support the double red.

Volcanic Fallout

By their own admission, Wizards of the Coast's R&D designs most cards with Standard in mind. Nowhere is that more apparent than Volcanic Fallout (and its Conflux print-run-mate Scattershot Archer) - an instant, uncounterable global damage source attacks all three of the Faerie deck's vulnerabilities simultaneously. It's a very strong card, much better in some situations than core set staple Pyroclasm. I wonder how it feels when, like Faeries now or Dragonstorm and Affinity before it, your favorite Standard deck is one that R&D officially shows its distaste for in such a manner?

Volcanic Fallout

Unstoppable pyroclasm/shock combo. Love it. Love it. Love it. This card will see play and lots of it. Many decks want the early board cleared. Yeah, Yeah...it can be countered. What can't?

Friday 3-6

Volcanic Fallout

Constructed: This card has rock the Standard scene right out of the starting blocks. Poor little Faeries. It will sit in the shadow of Path to Exile for awhile. It help 5cc deck win PT Kyoto. So it might get up there with Path to Exile.

Casual: 2 damage at instant speed is great.

Limited: This a great burn card for limited. Would pick it high and even hate draft it to. Good thing it is a uncommon.

Overall a great addition to red burn's list.
