Cerodon Yearling

It's fast, and it leaves you with a blocker. Given that a 2/2 with haste usually runs you three mana, this is a bargain. Vigilance is an extra bargain. Aggro decks want this card. Enough said.

Cerodon Yearling

Anyone who answered "Naya" to one of those "Which shard would you like to live in?" quizzes must have been thinking about the jungle panorama and not the wildlife. It's scary enough finding the neighbors' cats in my yard, much less a creature that already has vigilance and haste at the age of one year. Since the days of Sacred Foundry, red-white has always been frighteningly fast, and if there's a competitive deck with those colors in the next few months 9especially after Zendikar's release), it will be taking a long look at Cerodon Yearling for inclusion. It's not as versatile as Goblin Legionnaire and Cautery Sliver were, but it does apply pressure very fast, and sometimes that's enough.

Cerodon Yearling

Constructed: Red White already has a star creature right now.

Casual & Multiplayer: This is a great little common for second turn beats.

Limited: For Reborn only draft this can really get in for some quick beats. For the block set it is okay. If I was into Red or White I would pick some of these little guys up.

Overall a great little common that should see more play.

Paul Magic The Gathering COTD: Cerodon Yearling

Welcome back today’s card is highly efficient and unfortunately is overshadowed by more powerful cards in all formats. Cerodon Yearling is a 2/2 for R/W with haste and vigilance; it comes out of the gate swinging and still allows you to have a blocker as well. This card is efficient but doesn’t have the ridiculous power level of other competitively played cards to compete. In Standard Figure of Destiny, Knight of Meadowgrain, Mogg Fanatic (for now) and other high power low costing creatures overshadow Cerodon Yearling. In Extended Kird Ape, Boros Swiftblade, Wild Nactl and a plethora of other cards inhabit any decks this card could appear in. Legacy and vintage have far more powerful creatures to ever consider this. In casual and multiplayer its efficient but again overshadowed by far more powerful creatures in the history of Magic. In limited haste and vigilance are decent abilities and it provides a decent creature if your in color.

Constructed- 1.0
Casual- 1.5
Limited- 2.0
Multiplayer- 1.5
