Honor of the Pure

It's a very simple card, so there really isn't much to say. In a heavy-white deck, it's simply better than Glorious Anthem, the card it's replacing. Which means that White aggro decks are getting better simply because of this card. And that says a lot, when a card singlehandedly makes an already-established archetype stronger.

Honor of the Pure

If anyone thought Kithkin and other white Standard decks weren't strong enough, you can start collecting four of these from Saturday. Honor of the Pure makes Crusade look like "Walk in the Park" (which might be fun, but much less dangerous to enemy armies). If you like white, you'll be playing with this at some point. If you don't, you'll be playing against it at many points.

Honor of the Pure

Constructed: This is Jet fuel for BW tokens or any White(Kithkin) decks. Just when you think things are going to get better. It should see alot of high level play for the next year or more.

Casual & Multiplayer: This is a one-sided effect which can really put you in the spot light in a big multiplayer. Being a new card I am sure alot of casual players will be looking for their Angels decks or Soldiers decks or what ever is white deck.

Limited: I would have to say this looks like a top pick, but if you have no creatures out on the battlefield than it just sits there. Going mono white looks to be a strong color in M10 limited.

Overall it looks like one of the hype up cards that will be good.

Paul Magic The Gathering COTD: Honor of The Pure

Welcome back readers today’s card of the day is Magic 2010 answer to Glorious Anthem. Harkening back the original white pump card Crusade, Honor of The Pure only grants +1/+1 to white creatures you control for one less mana. The ability to only pump white creatures you control is highly flavorful but it also weakens current B/W token builds, it still allows pumping for the tokens generated by Spiritual Procession and Cloudgoat Ranger but doesn’t pump Bitterblossom. I can see this card replacing Glorious Anthem in most decks that rely on tokens and use the color white, as well as any white weenie decks. In Standard it will fill the void left by Anthem and continue the elevated power of white as a color. In extended it may see moderate to little play, In eternal formats not a chance. In casual and multiplayer pumping all white weenie creatures you control can swing leverage in your direction casual players will love a cheap creature boosting enchantment. In limited if your heavy in white this card can make sure you come out on top in creature focused battles. An all around solid card that will find its niche in a multitude of decks and formats.
