Algae Gharial

Even though it plays very nicely with devour, and has shroud to mitigate the most common risk associated with that mechanic, Algae Gharial is still a little expensive for high-level constructed play. There are more ways than ever to sacrifice creatures, though, and there aren't many ways to stop it in Alara limited play (it'll deal nine damage to the opponent before they're able to use their Scourglass).

Algae Gharial

Constructed: The Shroud makes this critter worth playing. It can still die to mass effects and it's cost a little pricey. But it still has some good plays in Standard and Block.

Casual: Great for multi-player when others critters start to go to the graveyard.

Limited: Works well with Unearth and Devour creatures. A top pick for any green deck or splash of green. The Shroud gives it a great defense against spot removal.

Overall a good card for green decks.

Limited: 4
