Ballyrush Banneret

Not the most exciting of Kithkin, but a 2/1 for one that helps the rest come out even faster is always acceptable, right? And he helps Soldier decks, so that's a plus as well.

Ballyrush Banneret

Anything that reduces the cost to play anything else is worth a look. Unfortunately for Ballyrush Banneret, white decks (especially with Kithkin) have more potential two-cost creatures than they can handle. For an aggressive deck, he doesn't really have anything to distinguish him in a format full of Knight of Meadowgrain, Cenn's Heir, Ronom Unicorn, Soltari Priest, and Wizened Cenn. Pick him reasonably high for limited, though: most changelings are good enough that getting them a turn earlier does make a difference (Chameleon Colossus, anybody?).

The sad thing about this guy is that good Kithkins tend to not have a lot of generic mana symbols in their cost so this card doesn't have a lot of use. It's still good for budget decks though because this guy has 2 power and budget Kithkins have more generic mana symbols on them while costing more.

Friday's card is Ballyrush Banneret. This guy is a two mana creature that makes all your Soldiers and Kithkins cost 1 less. This is great for Kithkins and better for Soldiers, especially when you dip into older sets like Onslaught and pull Daru Warchief. I used to play a Soldier deck and my Soldiers would've loved a cost reduction at turn 2. The banneret cards are great and with the quality weenies and powerup cards in other pools, this can be the best one possibly.

In constructed, Ballyrush Banneret loses out to Knight of Meadowgrain and Wizened Cenn in the two slot. At least half of the playable Kithkin and Soldiers don’t have any colorless mana requirements that could be reduced. In limited, it is a quality two drop the also reduces your changelings.
