Lava Hounds is out
fast and hasty, so despite it's coming into play
drawback of losing 4 life, it's pretty good.
I don't know if it would take the 4 slot in a
sligh or Gobbles deck though. If it hit
Astral slide, that wouldn't be so hot for
you...losing 4 life per slide... bad times.
In limited, it's a
quick 4/4. I'd pick it early/mid draft if you're
going red.

A hasty 4/4 for 4,
its only drawback is that it deals 4 damage to
you when it comes into play. That's not really a
drawback for red, because it helps keep the
pressure up. It doesn't matter what life you're
at, as long as you have 1 life when your
opponent goes below 1.
In limited, it's
less attractive, as a ground stall is
inevitable, and you frequently don't have the
power to push through early like you do in
constructed.

Lava Hounds
I think this guy should have seen a lot more play
in block than he did, and
he's now proving quite dangerous in 8th edition
limited, but with all the
spiffy goblin related things from onslaught block
to fill in the "ball
lightning" slot in red weenie decks, I think
he'll again miss his chance to
shine in constructed. He's still decent at what
he does though, despite the
fireblast to the head.
