Kashtira Preparations – #DABL-EN076

During either player’s turn: You can Special Summon 1 of your “Kashtira” monsters that is banished or in your hand. If your opponent activates a Trap Card or effect, you control a “Kashtira” monster, and this card is already face-up in your Spell & Trap Zone: You can look at your opponent’s hand, and if you do, banish 1 card from it face-down. You can only use each effect of “Kashtira Preparations” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Kashtira Preparations is the only trap currently in the TCG…it will be interesting to see what the archetype will look like when all support for it is out. Until then, they get one trap.

Continuous Trap, searched with Orge, that grants you a Special Summon of a Kashtira monster from your hand or banished area once per turn, on either turn. Recycling the Main Deck monsters over and over is important when they get you advantage whenever an opponent plays a monster effect or you attack. This is a themed version of a re-usable Call of The Haunted minus the graveyard.

Banishing a card from the opponents hand gets you information on what they’re playing and takes away a resource. Needing your opponent to activate a Trap Card or effect is easy to come by and you’ll be controlling a Kashtira monster because Preparations gave you one. On the first turn if you open with Unicorn and Ogre (or a way to get to both), you will have your Field Spell, this trap, and two Kashtira monsters or your Rank 7 Kashtira holding things down. I would be tempted to leave those two on the field because you’d get a banish from the Extra Deck, a banish off the top five excavation from Ogre, and a banish from Preparations.

Kashtira are easy to summon, Birth and Preparations make it even easier to summon and keep them on the field. Negation isn’t in this archetype, but banishing is and when you are banishing everything in sight your opponent is going to have an uphill climb to do anything. Don’t forget players, Imperial Iron Wall and Gozen Match wrecks this archetype.

Now for a Kashtira Trap and probably the only one you’ll ever actually activate on field: Kashtira Preparations.

Preparations is a Continuous Trap that lets you Special Summon a Kashtira monster that’s banished or in your hand during either player’s turn, which lets you keep your field swarmed with Kashtira monsters that can trigger their effects when the opponent keeps using monster effects. The second effect triggers when the opponent activates a Trap Card or effect while you control a Kashtira monster and this is already face-up, letting you look at the opponent’s hand and banish a card from it face-down. It’s a powerful effect to give you hand information and snipe a card from said hand, but in return you got to rely on the opponent playing one of the least used of the three card types in the modern game. If you do pull it off, it’s great, but you won’t be able to pull it off as often as their monster effects or Birth’s effect. Hard once per turn on each effect, so you don’t get too many Kashtira monsters or just completely destroy the opponent’s hand. It’s a good Trap if you want to play Ogre so you got another monster name and therefore get another card you can search, cause the other option is just something you want to banish from Deck to summon one of your Kashtiras as Xyz Material. Solid card.

Logically, a Trap had to follow, and here’s the Continuous Trap Kashtira Preparations.  Free Special Summon of a Theme Monster from your Hand or that’s been Removed from Play, and can be done during either players’ Turn…that’s awesome.  Getting that Effect off even once breaks you even for playing this card (and likely leads you to more).  Akin to yesterday, if this card is face-up and your opponent activates a Trap or Effect, you get to look at their Hand and Remove a card from it from play (and STILL face-down) if you were successful in looking.  Each Effect is Once per Turn.  This card is miles better than yesterday.  The Special Summon from the First Effect is powerful enough simply being able to be done during either Turn…but looking at your opponent’s Hand is about the biggest win you get in Yugioh…still keeping the removal aspect is incredible, and I still love all the removal in this Theme is face-down.  You have to control a Theme Monster for the latter Effect, and I think that’s fair to add a little balance to get to see their Hand, but I still love it.

Art:  4/5  This one makes a bit more sense to the name, but I love the ominous nature of the art in this picture.
