If you do, draw a card, choose one of your vanguards, and it gets [Power]+5000 until end of turn. [AUTO](RC):[Soul Blast (1) & Lock this unit] At the end of the battle that this unit attacked, if your vanguard is a grade 3 or greater , you may pay the cost. If you do, look at three cards from the top of your deck, put up to one card from among them on your (RC) as a locked card, and shuffle your deck.

This is one of those cards where people looked at it and said, ‘nah, I’d rather run Alter Ego Neo Messiah instead. Can’t say I blame them. Ideal Ego doesn’t actually work to shut down enemy strategies, which is the whole point of Lock to begin with – instead, it’s mostly just plussing for yourself and then using a G4 Messiah to unlock whatever play you want, but the Messiah deck certainly doesn’t struggle to lock that many of their own units while also shutting down the opponent’s, certainly not to a degree that would make Ideal Ego the strictly better ride.

Nice rear-guard, not a great Vanguard.
