Hello Pojo Fans,

Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres is Hieratic support they could’ve used when the appeared long ago: another way to tribute and activate their effects.

The ATK doesn’t matter, it opens up the corners for Hieratics and other Dragon-based strategies (Guardragons, Blue-Eyes, etc.). Pop a monster in your hand or field to bounce a card that’s face-up anywhere on the field is a good 1-for-1, but then you use cards that activate upon hitting the grave in any fashion, or activate when tributed like Hieratics, netting you a plus. It sucks you can only use this effect during your opponents turn, but you can interrupt their plays and get bigger monsters. Tribute Spheres and get you the REDMD (until it gets banned). This card has the most potential in its archetype. While you’d have to absorb potential loss of effects Link Summoning this with Hieratics, you can still get your tributes off and now interact during your opponents turn with those tributes.

Good Dragon support and good Hieratic support make for a great card. Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres is a Link 2 Light Dragon-type Link Monster with 0 Atk and with the bottom 2 diagonal arrows. It requires 2 Dragon monsters to Link Summon Spheres and gain the effect that can only be used while it’s in the Extra Monster Zone. Once per opponent’s turn, you can tribute any 1 monster from your hand or field to bounce any face-up card to the hand. Spheres can use itself to 1 for 1 the opponent and disrupt their plays. Within the archetype, tributes Hieratics will gain their effects upon being tributed. If Spheres is tributed you get to Special Summon any dragon from the hand or deck . That effect is once per turn, and the Special Summoned monster has 0 Atk and 0 Def. Again, this is very good in its own archetype because Hieratics tribute like crazy. For Dragons, this gets REDMD to field very quickly and during the opponent’s turn if you use the first effect to tribute Spheres itself as cost. Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres is very celestial, pretty useful, and all around great.

Next up for these archetypal Link Monsters is the Hieratic Link, which is an archetype we haven’t seen supported since 2012, so I’m glad we finally got a new card and here is Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres.

Heavenly Spheres is a Link-2 LIGHT Dragon with 0 ATK and arrows pointing Bottom Left and Bottom Right. I get the 0 ATK matches the other Hieratic Seals, but I would of liked some ATK on it, but I do like LIGHT Dragon and the Link Arrows. The summoning requirements are any 2 Dragon monsters, which is most certainly achievable with so many good Dragons and Dragon support in the game. Once per opponent’s turn, if this card is in the Extra Monster Zone (Quick Effect), you can tribute a monster from your hand or field to bounce a face-up card on the field to the hand. This is most likely disrupting the opponent, as self bouncing is best on your own turn, and I get the Extra Monster Zone restriction since they don’t want you reviving this to reuse over and over. The tributing to bounce is very nice as that synergizes with Hieratics very well, including itself, and it can help get rid of a threat. If this card is tributed, then you can Special Summon any Dragon from your hand or deck, but it’s ATK and DEF become 0. So tributing itself for that bounce is very viable to summon a REDMD from your deck, most likely when you are able to make sure said REDMD can’t be destroyed in battle since it’s stats will go to 0, but you can also summon Amorphage Goliath so your opponent has to kill it and then go into Main Phase 2 for Extra Deck plays. Eclipse Wyvern is a good option to banish something from the deck after Wyvern is sent to the grave so you can add said banished card to your hand when that Wyvern is banished. These arrows I should mention help get Guardragon Elpy and Pitsy in the proper zones for their effects, which is a great benefit for Dragon decks. Both effects of Heavenly Spheres are hard once per turns, as they should be. Heavenly Spheres here is basically a staple for Dragon decks, it’s just so good.

Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres is our midweek card.  This is a Link 2, Light attributed, Dragon (Dragon, really? but that fits the Hieratic theme) with a whopping 0 attack, and arrows that (again) point to the respective bottom diagonals.  Two Dragon Monsters are required for a Link Summon of this card.  The first effect here is a Quick effect (once per turn) and used during your opponent’s turn:

If this card is in the Extra Monster Zone, you can Tribute one Monster from your Field or Hand to bounce a face-up card on the Field back to the Hand.  Any type of card (so long as it’s face-up) and it can belong to either player.  If this card is Tributed (and you can Tribute itself via its effect) you get a Special Summon of a Dragon from Hand OR Deck, and its attack and defense become 0.

That sounds awfully familiar and appropriate for working in the Hieratic theme too, doesn’t it?  That effect, is also once per turn, but you’re bring out a high Level (likely level 8 Dragon) to XYZ Summon (or Link) into something far bigger and more powerful, and works in most (if not all) of your Dragon variants.  The 0 attack isn’t an issue, as the effects make up for it, and it likely won’t stay on the Field that long anyway.

Rating:  4.25/5

Art:  5/5  Now THIS I like.  I’m not sure if we’re too assume there are Dragons in the spheres, (also appropriate) but on the surface, it’s no Dragon.  The cosmic theme is really cool here too.
