From: Brett [mailto:f16lousyspy@yahoo.com] Subject: Tournament report Location: Las Vegas, Nevada Ground Zero: Dreamland Hobbies Entratnts: 7 Date of contact: FEB172004 Name: Brett Hurley Wizkids ID: Lousyspy All right, I started collecting Heroclix around August of 2003, after finding that no tournaments could be found, I went on a hiatus. Febuary 2005, I find tournament locations. Upon finding this knowledge, I quickly make printouts of ALL of the color clodes of the dials, team affilitations, and plinky rules I know I won't memorize. Upon doing this, I do a little research of pieces I SHOULD get. So the pieces come in and my first tournament is a 200 point team, the only rules to this is : -no Hypersonic Speed -no clix with perplex under 50 points (meaning no Con Artists) The match format was a 200 point team along the lines of the aforementioned house rules and all maps are the small maps. (I think the 13X13's) So here's the team I used: <> U Phoenix - 87 V Iceman - 47 E Pyro - 35 V Destiny - 29 Gee, who's the powerhouse here? Phoenix, Iceman and Pyro are Ranged combat powerhouses and Iceman and Pyro barrier makers, and Destiny assists all 3 attackers with probability control. Veteran Destiny is used in case of the Earthquake Battlefield. Condidion, that way, after 3 clicks, she can still be annoying. I ended up getting a bye the first round because I got in 15 minutes late. All due to Las Vegas rush hour being very unforgiving, the corrdinator there was more than oblidged to give me the bye and keep me in the tournament just to see what I'd bring to the table (rockin!) So round 2 begins: I can't remember his name: <> VS. V Bullseye, E Punisher, E Blink, E. Calypso. I go first, advancing my pieces up a bit. He starts off by using Blink's Telekenesis and throwing Punisher in a bush, this threw me off until I realized he just threw a stealth character where he wanted him to go. Holy crap! I start using my little Iceman+Pyro barrier trick (barrier every other turn by switching between Iceman and Pyro), he then splits up his formation and has Calypso and Bullseye pitted against Phoenix and Destiny. We both go head to head and probability control makes the battle between the 2 a little long winded. I end up retreating Phoenix and finish off Bullseye with Iceman. Blink TK's Punisher again and he ends up killing Phoenix. Calypso is starting t annoy me and I end up landing a pretty good blow to her. 3 damage to an Experienced Calypso turned dark chocolate to vanilla. He retreated her off. And his punisher and blink ended making short work of the rest of my team. 0-1 Round 3: <> VS. V Raven, E. Spiderman E. Wasp, V Easy Company Medic, E Wolverine He started off by throwing Wolverine in a bush and shuffling his team around. He saw me move Phoenix up to where Wolverine was and he sends Wasp and Spiderman to his rescue. I use Pulse Wave and start picking them off. He realizes that all three of them swarming wouldn't be the best idea and he sends Spider man off after Pyro. I end breaking away a few times and then I said 'screw it' and had both of them duking it out. Both of them dish out their amount of damage and Pyro ends up losing. But Iceman avenged that and put Spideman under. While this is going on, he has Wolverine run out of the bushes and I kick the CRAP out of Wasp and she dies instantly from a ranged attack. I move Phoenix away from the Bushes and go after Raven. Raven ended up staying in the back and missed 2 attacks due to Super Senses, she gets healed by their Easy-Company medic but that helped out temporarilly. Wolverine can't decide whether to stay in the bushes and Iceman nicks him while he's jumping out of the bushes. Wolverine lands on Regenerate and rolls a 6. Crap, back to square 1. Now he's after Destiny and ends up hitting her for 3. I nick him with Phoenix. He then proceeds to get ANOTHER 6 on Regenerate, he starts going after Iceman and Ends up killing him with Blades Claws Fangs for 5. Phoenix hits him for 5 AGAIN. Regenerate lands on a 2. I push Phoenix to kill off Wolverine, not wanting another 6. All that's left is an Easy Company Medic. He ends up getting a Critical hit on Phoenix, but it's not enough to keep her from killing him hardcore. 1-1 So I end up 1 and 1. I didn't get the highest points, so I didn't get one of the LE's, they then have a prize for best sportsmanship (basically, the tournament holder chooses a person based on how a person played, creativity of a team, sportsmanship, others opinions, etc.) And I end up getting a LE Sentinel Captain. Which was pretty awesome. I'm definately going back next Thursday...or at least trying to. __________________________________________________
