The Final Line Contest Winner and Quasar

This review is specifically for my last line contest winner Suicidefoxx, but I guess you can read it too.

Today we'll be reviewing QUASAR from Infinity Challenge and or Universe Set

Yes, it’s Quasar the man with the bands of infinite power and the cape of infinite lameness. Quasar defending the out skirts of the Universe often uses his cape to blend into space. However, his stealth plan is often foiled by his large yellow Bullseye on his chest….which is why those Bands of Infinite Power come in handy.

Seriously, does anybody even remember when I used to use that story section for real information?

Unique: 122 Points. 8 clicks. Avengers team. 10 range with a two targets.

MOVEMENT: 10 with no abilities….this is a major frowny face.

ATTACK: 11 with a steady drop. He has telekinesis for 4 clicks then incapacitate in the middle.

DEFENSE: (18,18,17 barrier)(17,16,16,15,15 with defend)

DAMAGE: 1 with ranged combat expert and that never changes.

SCULPT: As much as I ragged on it…that inside of the cape thing does look pretty sweet.

OVERALL: Quasar was an excellent choice to review, because he’s very hard to figure out.

• Very Solid defense with barrier. The defend ability does not hurt either.
• His high defense makes him hard to heal
• High attack, that drops too fast
• For 100 points he should be 10 clicks not 8
• Telekinesis helps him fit on more teams and justifies his cost.
• NO MOVEMENT ABILITIES.
• He flies so his NO MOVEMENT ABILITIES can not be balanced by a Lockjaw
• He’s an Avenger AKA for 5 points he is any team you want
• He is perfect for trick shot with his long range and his ranged combat full dial
• 1 base damage.
• With the feats and the lower attack values of other figures his stock is rising.

WHAT HE IS NOW: He’s a little over priced and has 2 major drawbacks, the low base damage which means he can never hit for more then 4 and the lack of movement ability. I love his opening telekinesis which means that he covers 30 points you were probably going to use anyway. He flies so he’ll always be able to use ranged combat. 10 range is always great! But once he is hit, he’ll probably never be able to hit back. If you play no feats and keep him how he is, he’s just not worth playing.

WHAT HE COULD BE: Feats are Quasar’s best friend…well feats and his seamstress.
He starts at 122 let’s see how high he can jack him up with useful feats
First load him up with trick shot. He’s perfect for that, he never loses ranged combat and his long range will come in handy.
144 points
Avengers Team Change Card is key. It is close on weather you want him to be stealthy or be able to carry 8 people, but I will go with the Green Lantern Team. This way he is well protected and can use his barrier and shoot out. This will also make him hard to be outwitted with all the characters he has around him. Plus it will make his defend that much more useful.
149 points
Now let’s put him Incontact with Oracle. For this I think we should actually USE ORACLE. He will be able to outwit stealthed characters and give his front line army a shot at them. He can boost up his defense to a very hard to hit 19.
Oracle 27 + 10 = 186
Force Field will give him toughness full dial
TOTAL POINTS: 196!
If you do all that Quasar can be boosted up to an over-costed figure that is VERY DEADLY.

Overall: Quasar is so close to good. If he had running shot OR a higher base he would be great. But he does not…so he’s not worth the points. A fair price for him would be 80 points. But he is worth trying to play once…because of his star cape….fine I give! The star cape IS SWEET!

HE RECEIVES A 2.5 OUT OF A POSSIBLE 5 THUMBS UP!
