Today's review is Stardust from Avengers

She is a Unique, 171 points, 8 range 1 target, 10 clicks of life, a flier, no AE, and Power Cosmic

Speed:   As always, I prefer upfront HSS, but phasing gets you where you need to go, and she can always run away

Attack:   Psy blast and Pulse Wave are always good. High numbers

Defense:  Starts high and stays pretty consistent all the way down, Super Senses can keep her annoying, Regen is placed at all the right spots


Damage:  CCE and Psy blast is a weird combination.  Basically if you are more of a range person, you can keep her at range and do pretty much the same damage with psy blast that you would do to damage reducers up close.  Stays high during those HSS/Pulse Wave clicks

 
The Good:  Cheapest power cosmic piece

      Lots of Phasing and HSS

      Good, consistent attack values

      Huge upfront defense

      Can do damage all the way down the dial

      Long dial

     

The Bad:  Power Cosmic + no damage reducers = no shellhead

                Not a nanobots candidate, kind of hard to heal

                Automatic Regeneration is a must

                No upfront move + shoot

                If she gets hit, she gets hit hard

                Super Senses only works 33% of the time

                Regen only does something 50% of the time


Feats:  Automatic Regeneration and Protected are absolute musts.  Whatever else you want is up to you.


Overall:  Well, she is pretty different for 2 reasons.  For one, she is the only one this week with no move and shoot.  Also, she is the only power cosmic piece to lack damage reducers.  She makes up for it though with a huge opening defense, and when parked in hindering gives her a nice 20 from range.  She does eventually get HSS with some pretty decent numbers, but the 8 movement is kind of less than you would hope for in this category, only leaving her with a respectable swing of 12.  Still, I think she is a good piece, and one that can really put a hurting on your opponent if you can keep her in the game long.  Also, with all that regen and a long 10 click dial, she could do just that. 

Constructed/Unrestricted:    3.5 / 5

Sealed/Draft:   4 / 5 (If she is useable in CoG, noone in Avengers will hit that 19 def)

 

Overall:    3.5 /  5

 Speed  -- Taxi-like. I wouldn't call 8 a "hypersonic speed" number.

 Attack  -- 10 is just okay. 12 front loaded would work much better. All powers will probably come in handy.

 Defense  -- There we go NINETEEN! Doesn't feel too rare nowadays, huh? Still incredible though. And Super Senses will make him even harder to hit. Can't forget the Regeneration. One good roll and the opponent is back to square one.

 Damage  -- Big time blow. CCE and Psychic Blast? Eh, at least he's well-rounded. The later 4's and 3's make up for it.

 Sculpt  -- I don't see any stars or any dust.

 Feat Candidates
~ Just Protected. Keep that cost as inexpensive as possible.

~ Stardust seems to begin as a glorified taxi to branch off on his own when he gains HSS. He can tie up real nice but who would dare waste 171 points to tie some guy up? I would use Stardust once or twice because he really can come in handy as the "final shot" figure. No, he's not a Heroclix star, but surely Stardust won't be collecting dust on the shelves.
