Storm
Danger Room Storm

Rurouni KJS Danger Room Storm
wing speed
40 points
Team: X-Men
Range: 8 x 1

This is Storm shortly after she regained her powers after a long period of...well...not having them. The X-Men, presumed dead, headquartered in the Australian Outback.

Powers and analysis:
1st click has Stealth and Range Combat Expert -- good.
2nd click adds Force Blast and Energy Explosion -- less good. Click 3 loses RCE but gains Energy Shield/Deflection for the rest of the dial. Click 4 loses Force Blast, and click 5 finally drops EE for Smoke Cloud.

Storm is all about her first click. Stealth + RCE with a 10 attack for 4 damage at 8 range is excellent for such a cheap figure. Such top-heaviness makes her less than pushable, though. Still, not all is lost should she get knocked down a click or two. ESD helps her stay alive at range and her attack remains at a very respectable level all down her short dial.

Feats:
TRICK SHOT, while it boosts her cost exponentially, makes Storm a deadly anti-stealth sniper. NANOBOTS is a good fit if you feel like you really *must* have the option of pushing Storm and don't want to be bothered with the X-Men TA.

Themes:
In addition to basic X-Men teams, Storm here best fits the "Fall of the Mutants" X-Men team consisting of Longshot, R Havok, E Colossus, E Psylocke, E Rogue
(ic) and U Wolverine (sinister). And, I SUPPOSE, E Dazzler (but she's from the wrong universe).

In sum:
Not bad for a starter set figure, Storm is like a Veteran Echo that flies.

Rating: 4/5.

Today's review is Storm from Danger Room

Ah, good old Storm.  The African Goddess who has the power to control the elements has been a part of the X-men since before I was born.  In the 90’s cartoon series, she always had to give an overly dramatic calling to the winds before she did anything.  Oh, she is claustrophobic by the way…so don’t lock her in a closet.

She is 40 points, 5 clicks of life, has an 8 range with 1 target, a flier, and an X-Men team member (really?)

Speed: 10,8,9,8,7  Stealth on the first click, then force blast on the next two

Attack:  10,9,9,9,8  Energy Explosion clicks 2-4, Smoke cloud on the 5th

Defense:  16,16,15,14,13  ESD clicks 3-5

Damage: 2,1,2,2,1  RCE first two clicks

The Good: Opening stealth with high range is always good

Very good and consistent attack values for the points

Keep a mid ranged def throughout entire dial

The Bad:  Force blast is just wasted points

Energy Explosion with 1 target is useless

Smoke cloud without stealth is useless

Easy to hit and with no damage reducers means she won’t last long

    Low damage

Feats:  None, her usefulness comes from her low point cost.  No need to put any more points on her.

Overall:  Storm is an interesting click to review.  She is in many ways like her X-plosion veteran, just with a lower cost.  She keeps a very consistent almost War Machine like attack, and her opening stealth means she can taxi someone with move and shoot around, then hide and snipe with her good 10 attack for 4 damage (from range).  The main problem with her is once she is off her opening click she is too easy to kill.  A 16 defense is all too common, and even with a 9 attack it isn’t that hard to hit.  After her first two clicks, her damage gets pretty bad, and will only be doing chump change damage to an opponent.  I do like this fig, and think that she is the most playable version of storm.  For 40 points, a good sniping taxi is hard to come by, and once she gets a couple clicks of damage, you can use her as X-Men team fodder.  Overall a very decent click who probably won’t see too much play in constructed but will be on many a theme team.

Constructed/Unrestricted: 3 / 5

Sealed/Draft:  N / A

P.S.  Congrats to Cram for winning Wizard World.  I guess all that reviewing came in handy ;)

Hi There! Today is the turn for the last member of Danger Room, Storm. If I
am correct, this is the classical version of Ororo. So not much to explain
about the character, have we? Onto her clix then: She costs mere 40 points,
has the X-Men TA of course, 8 range 1 target and 5 clicks of health:

Stats:

Speed: 10, 8, 9, 8, 7. 1st click is Stealth, following 2 are Force Blast,
and that’s it.

Attack: 10, 9, 9, 9, 8. Energy Explosion on the 9’s, Smoke Cloud on the
final click.

Defense: 16, 16, 15, 14, 13. She has Energy S/D on her last 3 clicks.

Damage: 2, 1, 2, 2, 1. RCE for her 1st and 2nd clicks.

Analysis: Wow, easily of the best 3rd string attackers ever. Her Attack is
pretty high for the points; the powers aren’t great (and still, you might
get to use them) but what the heck, you have what you want there. Speed is
nice also, nice values… and Stealth! that fist click of Stealth is golden!
Stealthy flyers are pretty nice, and hard to find… Force Blast… er.. is
there, too… who knows… you might use it… sometime. Defense is nice too, with

Energy S/D she keeps a nice defense from range, and she’s easy to heal to
her best clicks! Damage wise, his first click is very sweet! A 40 point clix

thatc an hit for 4 ain’t too shabby!

Conclusion: Here you have your next Havok: from up close she has the same
defense, from range she’s even better thanx to Stealth! (remember Havok has
nothing on his Speed) They both have a 10 attack, and both hit for 4. (
Storm’s RCE is as nice as a natural 4, ‘cuz she has no move and attack and
‘cuz with her Stealth, the can’t Outwit her RCE) And she’s 4 points cheaper!

Ranking:

100 – 2.5/5 Can work here
200 – 2.9/5 She’s nice here
300 – 3.5/5 A cool 3rd string attacker
400+ – 4/5 She’s so cheap here, yet you’ll pay if you ignore her… awesome J

“YES FORCEBLAST! NOW I CAN WIN!”
