as evil sounding. Victor Von Doom - the arch nemesis of Reed Richards a.k.a.
Mr. Fantastic of the
Fantastic Four. Victor Von Doom, self-proclaimed ruler of the land of
Latveria. A tyrant to the outside world, but beloved within his own country.
Victor Von Doom - Heroclix extraordinaire? Yes indeedy.
WK's own site claims that the veteran Dr. Doom is an army of one, and at a
198 point cost, in a 200 point game he would be an army of one. Of course,
much, you need to be getting a whole lot, well guess what, you are! Let's
talk about an 18 Defense, 9 clicks of health, Master-Mind, Invulnerability,
Toughness and Willpower on the defense track. Let's rave about 3 damage,
Perplex, Leadership and Outwit on the damage track. Let's marvel at a 12
Energy Explosion and Incapacitate. Let's go "ooooh" at the 8 speed with
Running Shot. Let's go "aaaaah" at the 10 square ranged attack. All together
Oh that was so good I need a cigarette. But wait, there's more. I forgot
that Doom is a flyer!!!
OK...sorry about that...anyway, as you can see, Doom has a plethora of
powers and great Stats. You'd be insane to play him by himself in a 200
point game, but
you can surround him with scrubs in a 300 point game. I hear Doombots
work VERY well.
The sculpt that WK is using for Doom and his Doom-Bots is ALMOST exactly the
same. The only difference is one has a closed hand, and one has an open
let you figure out which is which. As a level 5 Rare Dr. Doom shouldn't cost
you more than a few bucks, but because this is such a great fig, you might
little more. I've seen REV sets sell as high as $17.00. While that's
probably a bit high, it's not that far off.

Next Week - It's my week, and I'll kick it off with a full-on look at the
Unique Superman from Cosmic Justice.
Ok in my opinion what makes Dr. Doom great is his Mastermind ability. But
first lets go over his stats. 18 defense to start with, 12 attack with
Energy Explosion, 3 damage with Perplex, movement of 8 with Running Shot,
and Doom team ability. He also gains leadership, outwit, invulnerability,
toughness, incapacitate, and willpower later on. Ok now lets talk about this
Mastermind ability. If you're fortune enough to get through his 18 defense,
he can easily deflect the damage onto adjacent friendly characters with his
Mastermind ability. Surround him with some figures who can take some damage
and be sure to have some medics handy. If played correctly Doom can wear
down your opponent while taking little or no damage himself. Dr. Doom and
some carefully placed minions are a force to be reckoned with. He has a high
cost but he is worth trying to build a force around. He is a one man army in
himself with an impressive supply of abilities to tear through opponents.

Well, Dr. Doom has a colorful dial, to say the least. And those colors grant
him a boatload of options. Mastermind for the Doombots to protect him.
Energy Explosion, Invulnerability, high range with up to three targets,
really good values (Vet. Doom has a starting attack of 12) and the list
continues on. His only problem is his extreme point cost. At only 2 points
away from a full 200, you may not get to use him all that much. But played
correctly in a 300 point army, he is awesome. NEVER underestimate Doom.
