The following deck is the result of a lot of playtesting on Apprentice against a good player. It's a deck that consists entirely of Damage Spells (well almost) and only the best of them. Here it is: // Characters 1 Professor Filius Flitwick (Starting) 1 Professor Severus Snape 1 Harry Potter // Lessons 26 Potions // Items 2 Pewter Cauldron 1 Borrowed Wand // Adventures 1 Unusual Pets 3 Troll in the Bathroom // Damage Spells 4 Magical Mishap 3 Stupefy 4 Dogbreath Potion 4 Malevolent Mixture 4 Vermillious 4 Toe Biter // Healing Spells 2 Burning Bitterroot Balm What makes this deck so good is the huge amount of cards that provide Power: 30 + the starting character. That's half of the deck. The effect on the game is that you will be able to put down a lesson every turn without having to waste actions on drawing cards to find lessons. Another plus is that it's easy to find cards to discard for 4 Privet Drive: just discard those excess Lessons. Then there's the 23 damage spells!! from the first turn you will be able to start dealing damage. An example: Turn 1 : Potions + Magical Mishap 3 damage Turn 2 : Potions + Toe Biter 2 damage (plus creature killed) Turn 3 : Potions + Vermilious 3 damage Turn 4 : Borrowed Wand + Stupefy 5 damage Turn 5 : Stupefy + Dogbreath Potion 8 damage Turn 6 : Malevolent Mixture + Toe Biter 12 damage (plus creature killed) Total damage by turn 6 = 33 damage !!! That's half their deck. If you manage to repeat that they're dead by turn 10. The Adventures go well with the theme of damaging your opponent. Troll is harder to solve than Privet since they have to discard an extra card. There are just 2 Healing Spells in the deck (and 1 character) but their main purpose is to put those big damage spells back in your deck. Harry Potter is included to fight Privet Drive which is this deck's worst enemy. Another advantage of this deck is that it's creatureless, so anything your opponent has against creatures will be dead cards sitting in his hand. Some tips playing the deck: - If you encounter a Privet Drive, just solve it as fast as you can and try not to discard your healing spells (unless you're already winning). - Save your Vermilious and Toe Biters to kill creatures unless your opponent is dying - Don't play the big damage spells (DogBreath and Malevolent) on creatures unless you are dying from them Have fun playing the deck!
