The 4-Privet Drive Conspiracy - Graham

Herein I will provide evidence of a conspiracy that not only seeks to control how we play the Harry Potter TCG and with which cards but also that it involved high-ranking WOTC officials.

While trying to maintain balance in a game that should see some tournament action, WOTC of course decided to add some powerful cards to keep the game interesting.  Many of these powerful cards are in fact rare and quite difficult to obtain unless you have a bottomless wallet.  There are plenty of decent cards that are common and uncommon but none shine with the pure power of 4-Privet Drive.  For just 2 actions you can cripple most decks, and those that rely too heavily on spells are toast.  There are some spotty ways around this card but the best seems to be having more creatures than one would like as they are not affected by said adventure.
If you take a look at the card itself, it screams to be put in every deck made.  To let this card stand at idle would be a mistake and it should be included at least as a sideboard card but I believe that they will be main decked.  In a tournament scene, to me it looks like WOTC has not given us very many choices with the inclusion of this lone card.  The only way to get rid of the blasted thing is to discard 6 cards from hand, and then your opponent can play another one on his next turn.  What choice does one have but to design a deck to counter this strategy?

As far as I can see the best way around this card is a deck with a large creature base, or at least extra creatures in the sideboard.  OK, that’s fine but I’m getting ahead of myself.  Why will everyone be able to have 4 of these and have little excuse not to obtain them?  They are uncommon and should be relatively easy to acquire.  4-Privet Drive could have easily been a rare being as powerful as it is but WOTC decided to make it uncommon to further their plans.  They want people to play with creature-based decks; the why of this is not clear at this point but they should reveal their true purposes in time.

In addition to making this card available through it’s rarity they have made a point that everyone knows about the card by placing it’s picture in the rule book.  When I first read about Adventure Cards in the rulebook I was taken aback when I saw The Drive, it was like “Wow, those adventure cards are mighty powerful, I need some of those.”  Alas not all adventure cards rival the power of The Drive so why did they include its picture.
Quite bluntly they want to see this card played in force to mold the tournament scene to their desires content.

The card can wreck many decks so to design without considering it would be a folly.  The card is definitely not misprinted as it appears in the set and the rulebook, someone would have noticed it in one of the places.  WOTC knows what they are doing by now and the presence of The Drive is not a case of a card being glossed over by play testers.  They know that the best defense against The Drive is a creature based deck and this is what they want to see so they left it in the set.  Also if you’ll notice, both of the decks in the starter set are creature based and have no potions lessons involved.  Creatures are of course at the center of the evil plot but why the leaving out of potions?  With that I’ll let you think of the answer to that one, as I truly don’t know.

Don’t think that WOTC has gone soft quite yet, they know what they are doing and I’m afraid we all are walking right into their trap.  I don’t know how many will make it out alive but keep these words of warning near.  Never underestimate the enemy!
