We haven’t heard much from Gor Muldrak since the mid-2010s core sets set on Shandalar, but evidently he has spent the time preparing. Recall that the cards in Commander Legends are mainly intended for multiplayer settings, and in such a situation, you might have a decent to good chance of being at least among the ones who gets a Salamander Warrior token on each of your turns. You can certainly construct a deck in a manner that makes it more likely, and because of his ability, your tokens will effectively be better than those of any opponent who lacks their own Amphinologist.

And if that wasn’t enough, he shuts down changeling decks in an amusing and surprisingly effective way!

Coming along to try and avert the Salamanderpocalypse, Gor Muldrak presents an interesting bit of fun to his skillset. The smallest board at the end of each of your turns is rewarded with a free 4/3 Salamander Warrior. If it’s you, then you get 7/5 worth of stats for three mana, which is really good! But if it’s an opponent, they get a creature that your entire board is immune to…and Gor Muldrak does have enough power to pop the lizards he calls forth. He’s an interesting politics commander; while he’s only notably immune to Nameless Inversion among removal spells, people might be loath to remove him if they get free goodies, and you getting free goodies can be worth the price of admission. He’s definitely “fun”, but he can do a lot of damage if you get things going.

Constructed: 2 (I doubt Forbidden Orchard will do enough to make this a worthwhile combo, particularly with better combo pieces in Legacy)
Casual: 4.5

Multiplayer: 3.5
Commander: 3.75
