Hello Pojo Fans,

Happy December everyone, last month in the decade, Gimmick Puppet Terror Baby starts off our Gimmick Puppet week.

A Normal Summon Gimmick Puppet that really helps the deck that is Level 4 and below is hard to come by. Terror Baby is one of them. Free Special Summon off its Normal Summon gives you an option to recover a Gimmick Puppet after you discard it for something like Trade-In. Terror Baby will give you instant access to a Link 2, and then can help keep your opponent from negating any Gimmick Puppet effects for the turn. Banish to protect from negation is a level of protection this archetype could have used and now they have it. Foolish Burial this card if you need the protection more than the Special Summon ability, but getting both in the same turn is great as well.

Terror Baby could’ve been made better if it triggered off of being Special Summoned, Gimmick Puppets are hurting for good Level 4 and lower monsters that you can run in 3’s, but the card is still a great card for the archetype and is searchable by a lot of cards, and you could use Machine Duplication on it after using its first effect to get yourself a nice Link 4 off two cards.

Week four of the Legendary Duelists month comes to Quattro’s Gimmick Puppet archetype (perfect for Quattro to be week four) and we’ll start with Gimmick Puppet Terror Baby.

Terror Baby is a Level 4 DARK Machine with 500 ATK and 0 DEF. Very low stats, but it puts the card in Machine Duplication range, while being DARK is a great attribute and Machine is a great typing. Upon Normal Summon of this card, you can revive any Gimmick Puppet in your graveyard in Defense Position that isn’t Terror Baby. I don’t know why it can’t be another Terror Baby since it only revives on Normal Summon, but you should be able to get Gimmick Puppets to the grave easily. Heck, most of them are Level 8s, so you’re likely considering Trade-In. This can help set up an immediate Rank 4 Xyz or a Link-2 play, something Gimmick Puppets now have both of in 2019. You can also banish this card from the graveyard to prevent your opponent from activating cards or effects in response to your Gimmick Puppet monster effects for the rest of the turn. Appreciate archetypes getting ways to make sure their plays go through, the deck is very effect heavy for getting their monsters on the field for Xyz plays, so this is a useful thing to have. No hard once per turns on here since one effect is locked to being Normal Summoned and the other seems pointless to do more than once in a turn unless it got negated, so that’s perfectly fine. Terror Baby is a good way to help Gimmick Puppets fill the board for their Xyz plays, plus it’s another Machine Duplication target, so it’s a good three of in the deck.

These evil looking puppets and dolls would have been a neat thing to do closer to Halloween, no?  Gimmick Puppet Terror Baby is a Machine (for some reason) Dark, Level 4, with 500 attack and 0 defense.  Miserable as those things are there at the end, this is certainly one of those ‘we’re using me for my effects, not my attack and defense value’ cards.

A Normal Summon of this card lets you Target a Gimmick Puppet Monster from your Graveyard, other than itself, and Special Summon it back to your Field in Defense position.  A Free, Extra Monster easily sets up your Extra Deck plays…likely in this immediate instance an XYZ Rank 4 or a Link Monster.  Possible Tribute fodder as well comes into play here (though that likely isn’t happening that same turn).

Removing this card from play from your Graveyard prevents your opponent from activating cards OR effects in response to your Themed Puppet Monster card effects during the turn in question.  Free protection like that against your effects for an entire turn is a magnificently delicious attachment to this card.  This is a great card falling under the ‘I don’t do it myself, but I protect and set things in motion’ a combo card.
