Ghost Meets Girl – A Masterful Mayakashi Shiranui Saga – #MAMA-EN015

Tribute 1 “Mayakashi” or “Shiranui” Synchro or Link Monster; neither player can Special Summon monsters from the hand, Deck, or Extra Deck for the rest of this turn. You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 of your banished Zombie monsters; return it to the GY. You can only use 1 “Ghost Meets Girl – A Masterful Mayakashi Shiranui Saga” effect per turn, and only once that turn.

Now we got the Mayakashi card everyone talked about when revealed, and now a card to take the longest name in the TCG for now: Ghost Meets Girl – A Masterful Mayakashi Shiranui Saga.

Mayakashi Shiranui Saga is a Normal Trap that lets you tribute any Mayakashi or Shiranui Synchro or Link Monster to prevent both players from Special Summoning any monsters from the hand, Deck, or Extra Deck for the rest of the turn. It’s pretty strong at shutting off all of the opponent’s plays in exchange for one of your Extra Deck monsters for either archetype, which neither would mind having in the graveyard since Mayakashi can trigger their Synchros in the grave to revive themselves when the proper monster is destroyed and Shiranui can use their Synchros alongside Spectralsword to summon a bigger Synchro. The only Link that would benefit off being tributed is the card we looked at yesterday, though, and you likely already used it for the Link-4. Now, it doesn’t shut off the graveyard because Mayakashis do want to revive their Synchros still, so hope your opponent isn’t playing a Deck that’s heavy on revival. The second effect lets you banish this card from the graveyard to return one of your banished Zombies back to the graveyard, which is alright for a free graveyard effect. Only 1 effect a turn and only once that turn, so the first effect is perfect for the opponent’s turn and the second is great on yours. It’s a pretty good Trap Card only held down by the fact Mayakashi and Shiranui pure aren’t too great, and their Extra Deck monsters aren’t all that strong to begin with. You’d still play this with your Mayakashi and Shiranui stuff, this would just be a broken card in another archetype, which is why it went to those 2 instead.

Art: 4/5 Mayakashis and Shiranuis will be forever linked together.

Finishing the weekend is a Normal Trap fitting with yesterday in Ghost Meets Girl-A Masterful Mayakashi Shiranui.  Tributing one of either Monster listed in the name, so long as it’s a Synchro or Link, and both players are then prevented from Special Summoning outside the Graveyards or Removal for the rest of the current Turn.  Locking down access to such a wide array of places, in addition to it being Special Summons, even for both players is one hell of a lockdown.  It could be exactly what you need for that Turn to either push for the win or get yourself out a hole and turn things back in your favor. Certainly offensive and defensive possibilities here with this card, and I appreciate that.  You can also remove this card from play from your Grave to Target a Zombie of yours that’s been removed and return it to your Grave.  That’s helpful, of course, especially with Zombies, given how well they flourish in the Grave.  So both Effects here are rather useful, and you’re only allowed to use one Effect per Turn, and only once that Turn.  I don’t see why you’d need to use the first Effect more than once in any given Turn, and even the latter doesn’t do SO much I feel that it should be limited that way too.  But it’s still a useful and powerful card.

Art:  4/5  Very pretty happenings here, and fitting the lore quite well.  I enjoy this.
