We finish off VRAINS this weekend an start with Forge a New Future.

Forge a New Future is a Continuous Trap with a once per chain effect if a Link-4 monster is Link Summoned, letting you place a counter on this card (max. 3) and then applying the effect based on the number of counters this card has, with 1 letting you declare a card name to have the activated effects and effects on the field of cards with the same original name being negated, 2 letting you Special Summon a Level 4 or lower monster from your graveyard, and 3 letting you send this card to the graveyard to summon a Link-4 monster from your Extra Deck, also you can only activate 1 Forge a New Future a turn. So it’s possible to get all 3 effects in the same turn, you’d just need to Link Summon your Link-4s 3 times to do so, which is a lot to invest. In return, the first effect is kind of mediocre, the second effect can help you keep Link Summoning, and the third just gives you a 4th Link-4 monster. It’s a lot to ask, especially on a Trap, to get these effects and it honestly isn’t worth it. The card feels too slow and the payoff feels kind of low.

Advanced Rating: 1.5/5

Art: 5/5 So this is basically the battle on top the Tower of Hanoi between Playmaker and Revolver, with the art being the final attack from Decode Talker to Borreload Dragon. I’m sure all the Link-4 stuff is because Revolver pulled off an Extra Link with 5 Link-4 monsters total.
