Scar, The Weight of Duty:

The only hero Scar, despite another claiming the name "Hero of Liore".
He's very flavorful, and very welled designed for an Elric ally. His ability has great synergy with most of the purpose of the Elric Faction. He also has the powerful bonus of a search phase set ability, which allows Elric to gain even more of an advantage, or kill any character they want with Badly Injured.

Izumi is obviously the best choice for The Weight of Duty, as she's an
8 command Elric powerhouse. Ed and Al will both find him useful as well, although Marcoh and Hohenheim might run into some trouble if they tried to play him. Still, the Weight of Duty is a very good card, and deserves the high rating it gets from me.

Today's promo we're looking at is Scar, The Weight of Duty. This Elric faction Scar is an 8 cost 4/4/6 making it one of the best alchemy drops for Elric at level 2. He gets +2 strength while you have more cards in your hand than your opponent which lets him use his Search Strength 6: Set Target character with an attachment. He's also a Hero which typically Elric and A Hero's Passing really likes.

However outside of his large alchemy, you may be better off running Scar, Hero of Liore. At a 5/3/5 he has slightly lower stats, but 5 alchemy is still pretty good especially when playing against a deck that has no alchemy. It also gives you access to great alchemy cards such as Quick Draw and Alchemist Showdown. Hero of Liore also has a Quick Alchemy: 2 giving him the potential to beat out The Weight of Duty in all attributes. Even though Hero of Liore has a bit of a situational ability, ie you need a Zealot for it to do anything at all, The Weight of Duty also has a situational ability requiring an opponent to have an attachment in play. Plus you're not always guaranteed you'll have the 6 strength to use Weight of Duty's effect.

Overall both are fairly good cards, but I'd have to say the advantage goes to Hero of Liore here, put an At the Gate on him and he gets a massive Quick Alchemy: 4. Add that to the fact that Weight of Duty is one of the hardest promos to get ahold of currently, you may not have a choice but to play Hero of Liore.

Constructed: 2/5-His 6 alchemy is all he really has going for him and other Scar's can easily give you a good alchemy attribute.

Scar, The Weight of Duty
8 Cost Elric
Human-Hero-Ishbalite
4/4/6

Scar gets +2 to each attribute while you have more cards in your hand then each opponent.

Search Strength 6: Set target character with an attachment.

This has been one of my favorite cards for Elric when I used Izumi. Often he can be a 6/4/6 as Elrics like to draw cards, Bluebird should shutdown hand size hate with all the cards you can draw. He has some very nice Alchemy weighing in at 6 and the potential of 6 strength its even better. He fits into the New Age Elric scheme where he has 2 attributes he can fight in which is great. A Search phase set usually isn't to great, however Elrics that can survive at level 2 make use of Badly Injured, which setting someone makes for a free character kill.

My general consensus on this guy is, if you can run him you're running him. Hes hard to get as to my knowledge he was only available in the KIAC tournament series, and those went fast.

Constructed- 4/5 Hes just that good, I can't think of a reason you're not running him if you can. Two large stats which are pumpable by the Elric's big pumping cards.
Sealed- Can't use him, but again as per the three days I've said it. Use him if you can hes a nicely sized character.

Friday - Scar, The Weight of Duty

Well here's the end of FMA promo week here at Pojo.com and let's take a look at the very last of the promos with Scar, The Weight of Duty.

Scar, The Weight of Duty
8 Cost Elric
Human-Hero-Ishbalite

Scar gets +2 to each attribute while you have more cards in your hand then each opponent.
Search Strength 6: Set target character with an attachment.

Not a whole lot to be ecstatic about here with this Scar except that his Set character ability may actually come in use when dealing with annoying attachment heavy decks. Unfortunately that's all he has to offer. His +2 to each attribute does wonders when you're stocking up on the extra cards but otherwise it's something you wouldn't happen to worry too much about when playing against nor playing with him. Considering for the fact that this Scar is a Hero makes him unplayable in villain decks but still isn't too shabby of card to include in most level 3 leader decks. For an 8 cost Elric, he sounds a bit too expensive for my taste.

Numbers time...

Constructed: 3.5/5. Very average at best. Passive ability is an alright ability but in a game where chucking cards to the discard pile is normally a plus, makes this ability irrelevant. The second ability of setting the characters (which includes leaders) saves this Scar from being considered utterly useless.

Limited: NA. Um... yeah that isn't happening. Unless you have a completely dense judge.
