The “Steel Talon Alchemist”

Alex Louis Armstrong: The Strong and the Beautiful

7 cost ally

Strength 4, Wits 4, Alchemy 4

React Strength: cancel a battle event or ability

React Wits: after an opponent plays an event or ability that draws one or more cards you draw one card

I don’t personally splash too much. This card however is a wonderful level two drop in almost any deck. Cancel a battle event or ability and draw a card when your opponent plays an event or ability that draws cards. You really don’t lose out here. My only gripe is the pansy 4 stat for an 8 cost ally.

Final score

Constructed: 4/5 Great abilities but pansy stats, plus if you run in an area with little to no card draw then his versatility is cut in half.

Limited: 4/5 decent all around for limited, stats are still low but with “More” in the card pool it is definitely versatile

The “Steal Talon” Alchemist

darktaro

Today's ally is Alex Louis Armstrong, Strong and Beautiful. Easily one of the best ALA allies this is a 7 cost 4/4/4 that can fit into any deck with an 8 command leader. It isn't the best stats although it does have a decent 4 alchemy. He does have two great abilities however one lets you draw a card anytime your opponent draws a card once a turn, and the other lets you cancel one battle event or ability. The cancel is a nice ability not only for what it does, but just for the threat it holds. Many people may end up trying to take ALA out first because they fear his cancel will disrupt their strategy. In this sense ALA is almost a bit of a decoy for your better allies.

Nowadays he isn't seem splashed as much as he used to mainly due to most factions are very well rounded now with enough allies to fill the command curve. He still has a bit of use in beatdown decks, just becareful of Spooky Shadows.

Constructed: 3.5/5-Not an instant splash like he used to be, but still a good choice if you're looking for a bit of battle control.
Sealed: 4/5-Great card for the sealed format where a battle cancel every turn can easily turn the tides your way.
