Feb. 15 (Alphonse Elric, Indelible Soul):

Well, Alphonse sure didn't get very much good stuff this set. While it's true that Zealots didn't have decent 9-costs (despite Lyra), or even an Alphonse Zealot before Indelible Soul, he doesn't do that much. His ability is expensive- especially in a deck not dedicated to Stones, in fact, his only saving grace with Rose is that he is, in fact, a Zealot with alchemy. He may fit into a couple Hohenheim Elric, Protective Father decks for his nine-cost bigness and stone ability, but Tireless Fighter is a much, much stronger card.

In limited, nine costs are virtually unplayable. It *might* happen in Speed Draft, but it's doubtful that you will get to level three.

Constructed: 2/5
Speed Draft: 2.5/5
Sealed: 1.5/5 (less likely for level 3)

Today's Sacrifice review is Alphonse Elric, Indelible Seal. Had this been a few sets ago I would have given this a 1 or a 2 simply for the fact that it is 9 cost. Generally most decks don't want to put in allies they can't recruit at level 2, but lately there have been more ways to get extra command. There is the Hohenheim XE, Automatic Oven, Brigadier General and Calling in Favors to name a few to make 9 cost allies a little more accesible.

The Al itself is nothing to laugh at either. At 7/5/6 Toughness: 2, you would need a 9/7/8 to defeat him alone. Even if you were to defeat him he has a great little stone ability that lets you reset him instead of defeating him. Overall I think it's a great Al. Though 9 commands are more accessible now, they still are not 100% reliable to recruit so it hurts it a bit. The stone ability too can be expensive or impossible depending if you decide to run stones or not.

Constructed: 3/5-With so many different Al allies to choose from, it'll depend on your deck.
