MILLER

Scar isn't quite the stereotypical soldier, but he IS a soldier of Ishbal. This picture is a flashback to Scar as a younger man, prior to the death of his brother, and also prior to having alchemy. I find it weird that he would have alchemy at this level, however, I digress.

This scar has a few specific uses, most of which are immediately noticeable. First, start a character with over 6 cost, this is the only leader in the GAME that can start an ally with a faction that costs more than 7, and only one of 2 that can do 7. My suggested start would be Loner and Policeman. Another option available to you is starting many lower cost allies, but I don't suggest this, as you can just recruit most of those allies turn one with another level 1 Scar. I've also heard some people suggest the start of Greed, Rebellious Sin as he is a force that in most cases cannot be taken care of on turn 1.

In constructed, Scar shines. He brings around new deck types that start Loner and use Loner to win the initial location and perhaps some more afterwards. In sealed, however, Scar isn't as powerful, because usually you are staying at level 1 for two turns because policeman isn't available, and its not a good idea to not be able to recruit for two turns.

Sealed: 2/5 Just NOT that useful.
Constructed 4/5 A good level 1 Scar.

"We're doomed! They're comming!"

Hey guys, welcome to Lionhart week! (where I get to choose all of this week's cards!) Yesterday was my b-day, (10/01) so yay! Enough of that, now we review Scar, Soldier of Ishbal. By far, this is the best, imo, Scar level 1. +9 Command can get you lots of places, for starting allies. Play the Policeman and Loner, Faceless Butcher for a great start off. When you play Loner in the search party, he get's -1 to each for each other character in your search party. but for a seven cost 7/7/7, now 6/6/6 if you play Scar too, he's very good. Not many things can take him out, you'll most likely have priority, ect. You sac the Policeman first turn to get to Ishbala's Avenger ASAP. You can't recruit unless you're at level 2 so... Yeah! This is a GREAT card, but may be hard to come by, being a Chase XE and all... If you play Scar, there's no reason not to play this. Although the second best level 1, imo, is Harbinger of Chaos, which is good and easier to come by. (fixed)

Scar, Soldier of Ishbal gets a 5 out of 5

Scar gets +9 command for the purposes of determining starting allies.

I'm so glad they made a card like this. The concept is great. Now let's look at how competitive it is.

If you don't start policemen, or his effect gets canceled, you are going to lose the game. 2 missed ally drops = you lose. Still that's not too bad, I have only seen 2 competitive decks that don't start policeman (Shou, Hughes). So what are we going to do with that other 7 command? Many people may be tempted to start Loner, Faceless Butcher and try to win in 2-3 turns using location control. You could also play Sensei's Shadow for free, on the first turn!

Unfortunately, I couldn't see someone starting this outside a rush deck. Missing one ally drop for 3 extra command of starting allies isn't worth it in the long run.

Constructed Rating: 4/5(Rush Location Control)
