Basically, you have to have a way to see the top card of your deck. There is a military that let you do that with a cost of 2 or 3. Dont really remember the name but the effect is play with the top card of your deck face up. So just equip something that boost Maes strenght and you would be drawing 2 cards at a time each turn. Not too shabby.

I do not think his stats are really that high though. Proud father has 7.6.0 and he lets you recruit all heros for -1. I personally would choose Proud father over analyst.

Main Wits 7: Name a card. Reveal the top card of your deck. If it is the named card, draw it.
I think that if Hughes didn't already have "COMBO" written across his head, this may have been the tattoo artist. There are just so many cards out right now that let you look at the top X cards of your deck and put them back in any order, it's just wrong with this guy out! (OH GARNNY PINAKO!! THE MILITARY NEEDS YOU!!!)

In a combo deck 5/5
in plain military 3/5

The Rundown: With average stats, you may be asking yourself "Why should I
play this Hughes leader?" The answer: Card Advantage. Begin the game with
Sheska, Civilian in play and you're all set up for a combo. Sheska, Civilian
makes the top card of your deck visible to all--rather easy to guess the top
card of your deck now, isn't it? This will give you an extra card per turn
and perhaps the edge you need over your opponent.

The Downside: How easy is it to guess cards unless you already know what
they are? Sure you can start the game with Sheska, but wouldn't you rather
start the game with Vato Falman, Plainclothesman or the ever popular Hakuro,
General/Elysia Hughes, Beloved Newborn opening combo? And on top of that,
you have to have 7 wits in order to play the ability. Which means you have
to have Hakuro, General or an attachment in play in order to avoid having to
equivalent exchange for the ability.

Final Word: To be perfectly honest, there are better level 2 Hughes leaders
out there: Maes Hughes, Proud Father and Maes Hughes, Lieutenant Colonel.
Proud Father gives you really good stats and makes all of your Heroes cost 1
less and Lieutenant Colonel has 8 command with a halfway decent ability. The
cons definitely outweigh the pros on this card.

I give Maes Hughes, Analyst a 2.5 out of 5.
