While Ready redirect event or ability targettting your Edward Elric to Alphonse Elric.

Today's Alphonse is a great hero, although the cost is way to high. I don't see this getting much play due to that fact. If there was an Elric faction leader who could bring this out mid game this would be one of the best Elric allies out there with great stats and effect. You just won't see much play due to this fact but it's still a great hero.

Overall 2/5

Alphonse Elric, Bodyguard

10 Cost--Elric Faction

Spirit*Hero

8 Strength--5 Wits--7 Alchemy

"While ready, redirect any event or ability targeting your Edward Elric to Alphonse Elric."

The Rundown: Perhaps one of the best Alphonse allies, Bodyguard lets you
rest easy if you're worried about Edward biting the dust to Challenge the
Sun or Lust, Cloaked Stranger's ability. It's also handy for those send home
abilities like Yoki, Corrupt Lieutenant and Father Cornello's Chain Gun. Al
will also take the hit if your opponent plays cards like Intimidation,
Aflame, or Flesh Wound. It's a very useful ally indeed if you're playing
Edward Elric as your leader! The stats aren't too bad either.

The Downside: First off, this Alphonse is cost 10! This means that you're
not putting him into play until you get to level 3. Secondly, Bodyguard's
ability is a double edged sword--much like Trusted Advisor. "While ready,
redirect any event or ability targeting your Edward Elric to Alphonse
Elric." It doesn't specify opponent. So, when you play that The Better
Weapon or Kick to keep Edward in the fight, you'll be helping Bodyguard out
instead of Ed. Keep this in mind when sending Ed in to fight.

Final Word: Even with the minuses to this card, Bodyguard is still pretty
solid and should be considered as a late game ally if you run Edward Elric
as your leader. If you don't or if you're looking for an early game Alphonse
to use, then you might want to go with Alphonse Elric, Sidekick for an extra
attack per turn or insurance against the Homunculus' setting capabilities.

I give Alphonse Elric, Bodyguard a 4 out of 5.
