Black Hayate, Mascot

The real dog of the military. As a card it won't see much play, although a great card when at my B&W pre-release. So the dog can exchange itself to reset an character at home then put it in the search. It can help if you have search party setting abilities like challenge the sun. Its also good for a tech against homunculus tap-out. So if needed it can be quite helpful.

Black Hayate

The first time I saw this card, I thought it was semi decent. He is not somebody you would want to start off with, because I feel he is a wasted starter. His effect probably wont be used until later in the game. His effect is very situational, and unless you have card effects that set your own characters, or if your going against lust, his effect is useless. even though it is good against Lust, you never want to play with a card that only stops one deck. Cards like Automotive and the new advantage, Lead by Example, is a lot better than Black Hayate. I really hope i do not see much of this card when i am playing someone competitively.

Black Hayate-

To those of you that don't know me, I will in form you that Black Hayate is my favorite card. Not only is the mechanic decent, but it's also black hayate, and who doesn't like black hayate?!

Now, for actually reveiwing the card. Black hayate comes in handy for
3 main things:

1- A solid starting ally
2- A combo engine for cards like Challenge the Sun or Persuasion
3- A way to counter send home actions and bring a powerful character back into the fight. Or, alternativly, bringsomeone into the fight at the last second.

I'll review these individually, starting with the weakest.

Black hayate is, although I hate to admit it, not the best starting ally choice. All of the military leaders, although they love CtS, have better starting lineups. Roy and Basque have Lyra, Policeman, and Vato, while hughes starts Hakuro and the Baby with their six command versions.

With 5 command versions, they still typically include vato and policeman leaving only one command open. Black hayate can theoretically suppliment lyra or vato, but I don't see any reason for it, as much as I think black hayate is amazing.

As a combo engine, Black Hayate functions well in almost any deck.
Scar can especially use the help, taking out 2 characters a turn with Alchemist Hunter. CtS is also useful this way. Black hayate can also get around the added costs of Persuasion and Dirty Tricks, which are both even more powerful cards. Although it does use up a search action, I typically find black hayate very useful in the long run this way.

The last way is probably the most obvious and simplistic. Black Hayate will be targeted early on to avoid this, or it will just be similar to Automobile. Either way, it still works well for its cost.

Overall, I have to give black hayate a lower rating, after all, there are more powerful cards, just not ones that make your opponent tremble in terror when you reveal your deck to be backed in them.
