Fullmetal Alchemist Anime Info

Character Bios: Jean Havoc

Second Lieutenant Jean Havoc likes to smoke, and is almost always pictured with a cigarette in his mouth. He is a fair shot with a gun as well. He's one of Roy Mustang's most loyal followers, and gives Edward a stern talking-to when Ed dares to bad-mouth Mustang for only caring about promotions. Havoc is somewhat dull at times, but his intense friendship and loyalty to Roy Mustang knows no end. Havoc is a strict man of duty. He never lets any situation get the best of him. He goes by the book, even if he knows what he is being asked to do is not the course of action he would make if he were in charge.

Havoc's terrible luck with women is a running joke — it seems Mustang is constantly stealing any potential dates away from him. In arguably the most humorous episode, 37 of the anime, Mustang orders his subordinates to find Havoc a girl to replace yet another one he stole from Havoc, and Major Armstrong volunteers his baby sister Katherine, who according to Armstrong is very similar in appearance to him. This worries Havoc a great deal. After seeing Armstrong's father being "large horizontally" and mother being "large vertically", Havoc imagines Katherine as an enormous woman who looks like Major Armstrong with a wig. But upon seeing the real Katherine, a petite and cute girl, he rejoices ... only to have his hopes dashed when Katherine rejects him. As it turned out, she was into guys who are strong and muscular like her brother. Havoc ended up in a comical catatonic state for the remainder of the episode.
