Favorite Contact – #POTE-EN069

Special Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck that mentions a “HERO” monster as material, ignoring its Summoning conditions, by placing the Fusion Materials mentioned on it on the bottom of the Deck in any order, from among cards in your hand, field, GY, and/or your banished cards. If you placed “Elemental HERO Neos” into the Deck, neither player can return the monster Special Summoned by this effect to the Extra Deck. You can only activate 1 “Favorite Contact” per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Favorite Contact is a Trap that would be too good if it had been a Spell.

Any Fusion Monster that mentions a “HERO” as material can be Special Summoned by this Normal Trap, disregarding all summon conditions. Straight-away you have access to 41 potential targets to summon as long as you can put the materials on the bottom of your deck. Favorite Contact’s reach from where you cycle back the materials knows no bounds, giving you access to the grave, hand, banished, and field. Now, with all “Neos” Fusion Monsters, that pesky effect to cycle the Fusion back sucks. If you somehow involve Elemental HERO Neos, neither player can return the Fusion Monster to the Extra Deck. Not only do you negate the crux of the Neos Fusion monster’s problems, you also prevent bouncing of your monster from your opponent. As a Trap, it is slower than a Spell, however it is offensive and defensive in nature, even if you have to wait a turn to make it offensive for you.

You have access to all E-HERO Fusions, a Destiny HERO Fusion, and some Evil HERO Fusions, as well as Rainbow Neos, you have your pick of which to add to your Extra Deck. Favorite Contract is only held back by the availability of the materials you place back into your deck. Waiting can be the difference between winning and losing, even for a turn so you’d better hope you have what you need the turn you set Favorite Contact. At worst, it is a trap that nets you a Fusion Summon without the fusion card, at best, you have a monster that won’t get swept back by its own effect. In an archetype that can Fusion Summon a lot, this is a nice card to have, though I’m not sure you’d max out on copies.

Because having the materials on the field isn’t always reliable for your Fusions, we got another way to summon them with Favorite Contact.

Favorite Contact is a Normal Trap that lets you Special Summon a Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck that mentions a HERO monster as material, ignoring summoning conditions, by placing the Fusion Materials listed on it from your hand, graveyard, and/or banished cards on the bottom of your Deck, and if you placed Elemental HERO Neos by this effect, neither player can return the Fusion Monster summoned by this effect to the Extra Deck. So it’s another way to get out Contact Fusions, and it recycles your banished cards if you used something like Miracle Fusion at least. Being able to summon Fusion Monsters without giving up real advantage is great, unless you need to use cards in your hand. Summoning something like Nebula Neos or Cosmo Neos on the opponent’s turn is pretty great. It also turns off the major downside all the Neos Contact Fusions have, so that’s great. It’s another hard once per turn, which is fine. Any other ways we get to summon these Neos Fusions is always great, and at least this can help summon other HERO-related Fusions as well. Another solid card for Neos.

Midweek brings us a Normal Trap, in Favorite Contact.  Every Deck should be lucky to have a Fusion mechanic like this.  You get to Special Summon any Fusion that lists a Hero as Material using Material from nearly anywhere (Hand, Field, Grave, removed pile) and they are placed on the bottom of your Deck in the order of your choice.  The ease and versatility in that alone is almost sickening.  If you return Neos to the Deck via this Effect, your Fusion brought out by this card gains moderate protection, where neither player can return it to the Extra Deck.  Which is…something, and as I like to say, something is better than nothing.  You can only activate one of these a Turn.  Effect Destruction blanketing this would’ve been better, of course, but I’m fairly surprised anything else was attached here given how crazy good the initial Effect is.  Even at one a Turn, this should be a 3 of per Deck in most, if not all, Hero strategies.

One of the more highly-anticipated Neos cards, Favorite Contact is a Normal Trap and can only be activated once per turn. Favorite Contact lets you Fusion Summon any Fusion monster that lists a HERO as material (ignoring its summoning conditions, which is necessary for the Neos Fusion monsters) by returning the materials to the bottom of the deck from the hand, Graveyard, or being banished. Additionally, if one of those Fusion materials happened to be Elemental HERO Neos, that monster can’t be returned to the Extra Deck. This is obviously meant to protect your Neos Fusions from being shuffled back during the End Phase, but as a bonus, it’ll also protect it from your opponent’s shuffling effects, like from Knightmare Unicorn. Being able to use banished cards and cards from the Graveyard as Fusion materials is excellent, and opens up all sorts of possibilities, and since it mentions Neos, you can search it with Elemental HERO Spirit of Neos as well. Neos finally getting a Trap Fusion card lets you take full advantage of Elemental HERO Cosmo Neos and Elemental HERO Nebula Neos (plus Friday’s card!), which both have powerful trigger effects, but don’t do very much on your own turn, so you’d prefer to summon them on your opponent’s turn with Favorite Contact. That said, as great as the card is, you’ll definitely need to incorporate it into combos to make it worthwhile due to the heavy Fusion costs of the better HERO monsters.
