Expurrely Happiness – #AMDE-EN017

2 Level 7 monsters – You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a Rank 2 monster you control with 5 or more materials. (Transfer its materials to this card.) During your Main Phase: You can detach 1 material from this card, and if you do, negate the effects of all face-up monsters your opponent currently controls, until the end of this turn. Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this effect’s activation if this card has a Level 1 “Purrely” monster as material. When an attack is declared involving this card that has 5 or more materials: Inflict 1500 damage to your opponent.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Expurrely Happiness is the last card we’ll cover this week and is the other big Xyz of the archetype.

Same everything to summon it, same optional way of summoning it. With Expurrely Happiness you can detach a material and negate ALL face-up monsters the opponent controls until the end of the turn. This already makes it better than Noir. When “Purrely” is attached, your opponent cannot counter this effect activation. Having “Purrely” attached makes Expurrely Happiness’s effect a Spell Speed 4, wow. Not only does it have an easily-attainable opponent board negation for all their monsters for the turn, but it has 2500ATK vs 1100ATK like Noir. Sure, it doesn’t have protection like Noir can have with five or more materials, instead, Happiness is straight offense, dealing out 1500LP of burn damage when having five materials attached.

Then you have the added benefits it gets from the attached Quick-Play Spells like Noir got: added attacks for each Purrely Happy Memory +1, a 1-for-1 that will attach an opponent’s monster as material, and 300ATK/DEF boost for each material attached. Happiness could detach one to negate all opponent’s monsters, prevent them from countering it, then trade a card on your field to attach a monst from your opponent (gaining back the material you detached), and get two battles in with a monster that at that point would have an attack of 4000 minimum. While it doesn’t have disruption, it also isn’t taking a -1 off its activation like Noir, because you are going to negate at least 1 monster to break even, anything after that is a plus.

Happiness and Noir are each great in their own way. Broad-reaching vs spot disruption. Burn vs Protection. It all comes down to how quick and how many materials you can attach. Star Purrely Street helps with that, and Epurrely Plump can be your way to up to seven materials. Happiness edges Noir for me because a negation for all opponent’s monsters that turn that can be a Spell Speed 4 can cover more ground than a detach two to get rid of one.

The week comes to an end with the second boss monster for the archetype, and the one more likely to finish a game on its own: Expurrely Happiness.

Expurrely Happiness is a Rank 7 LIGHT Fairy Xyz with 2500 ATK and 1100 DEF. Good ATK at least, and LIGHT/Fairy is a better combination than any other Attribute with Fairy really. So same thing as Noir, 2 Level 7s to generically summon, can summon over a Rank 2 with 5 or more materials. During your Main Phase, you can detatch a material from this card to negate the effects of all face-up monsters the opponent controls for the turn, with the opponent being unable to respond to this if you got a Level 1 Purrely as material. I would of rather had a Quick Effect, but if you are using this as a finisher, then I guess ensuring you can negate all the opponent’s effects is good. The second effect triggers when an attack is declared involving this card with 5 or more materials, dealing 1500 damage to the opponent. It’s nice extra damage to go along with the damage they’ll take from an attack with this. You can easily make this a finishing blow if you got multiple copies of Purrely Happy Memory and Purrely Delicious Memory on it as material to give it more attacks and a 300 ATK boost per material respectively, especially having multiple Delicious Memory as material since the boost will stack for each copy. Happiness might not be the Rank 7 you’ll see most often from Purrely, but if it comes out, you can assume the opponent is intending to end the game right there. Fine card to end the week.

Art: 4/5 Gonna assume Epurrely Happiness is Espeon, so I’ll take a guess at this being Sylveon.

The week concludes with the official boss of the Purrely archetype and the next evolution of Epurrely Happiness, Expurrely Happiness. A mirror verison of Expurrely Noir, Happiness is unsurprisingly a Rank 7 LIGHT Fairy Xyz monster instead. Again, Happiness has generic materials of only two level 7 monsters, though it does have more generic applications than Noir if you choose to make it outside of Purrely. Happiness has an okay 2500 attack and poor 1100 defense, which are almost the reverse of Noir’s. Flavor!

Just like Noir, you can Xyz Summon Happiness off of a Rank 2 Xyz monster with 5 or more materials, making Epurrely Plump ideal for this since it can quickly stack more materials onto itself. Happiness’s primary effect can be activated during your Main Phase and isn’t’ once per turn, though I question why you’d want to activate it multiple times. By detaching one Xyz material, Happiness, can negate the effects of all of your opponent’s currently face-up monsters until the end of the turn, and if Purrely is an Xyz material, your opponent can’t respond with effects or activations. This effect sounds pretty amazing on paper, as it is essentially Dark Ruler No More on legs. Unfortunately, it’s hampered by the fact that unlike Dark Ruler, you have to summon Happiness first, leaving the climb into Happiness vulnerable to disruptions before you have a chance to negate them. That said, if you do manage to pull it off, you can set up for a clean sweep with Happiness’s other effect, also not once per turn, which burns your opponent for 1500 damage when an attack is declared involving Happiness while it has 5 or more materials. Combined with having Purrely Happy Memory as an Xyz material, you can easily burn your opponent for 3000 or more damage, so going for the OTK isn’t particularly hard. The main issue with Happiness is it isn’t very useful going first, causing it to compete with Expurrely Noir, which is useful going both first and second thanks to its protection and disruption. Still, there’s no reason not to run Happiness just in case you need to go straight for the kill.
