As a general rule, I’m not fond of the idea that Critical-gaining units can somehow have the same pressure as Critical Triggers, because you can’t. If you physically don’t have any, you don’t check them. After the VG attacks there’s nothing. Thankfully, the Standard version of Ancient Dragons almost all have the ability to gain a Critical should you check a Front Trigger, effectively making them Critical Triggers for everyone. Is that a good enough reason to not run Criticals? For the first time, possibly, since both Ancient Dragon bosses at least carry this ability so you don’t lose pressure.

As for the first ability of this card, hard +1 to you with additional power for no SB or CB cost. That’s good. Works with retiring ANY rear-guard, so if you make allowances for stuff that plus you upon death such as Skyptero or similar among an otherwise pretty pure Ancient Dragon build, you have a pretty solid budget engine for those who don’t like Gaia Emperor.

12 Front, G1 PGs for protection, all day. We live in this sort of meta now.

3/5
