Random Evo-Crush by Justin Florio

Galactic Quest in Buford, Georgia

12/31/04

Sorry, this is my first tournament report, so it may be a little bit sloppy, so bare with me. This was also my very first Duel Masters tournament, so you can judge my results based on that.

The tournament was a 20 dollar, five pack booster draft. There were only 20 Evo-Crushinator of Doom packs left in the store, so only four people obtained them for the draft. Luckily, I obtained five of them for my draft. I was quite happy with myself for signing up fast enough to get Evo. The rest of the people had to get Shadowclash of Blinding Light. My pulls were actually quite good compared to what I expected, so I had planned to do well in this tourney.

34 Cards

I was actually pretty confident going into the first match against a Shadowclash deck. The poor kid pulled an Alcadeias, Lord of Spirits but couldn’t use it.

Justin Florio vs. David

Match 1

This match started off with the kid getting an Aqua Guard out and me getting Marrow Ooze. He killed it, and went on the offense. He went up four shields to none. I started getting creatures out. He started not to tap. I drew Rumble Gate when I had four creatures. I killed all his creatures. Next turn, I drew Barkwhip and I had evo bait in my hand. I Sent him out for the win.

Match 2

I started things off with Wyn, the Oracle on round 2. The kid couldn’t get any creatures out. I attacked three times with Wyn to avoid two shield triggers. I avoided them until I had enough creatures to destroy the rest. I won.

2-0

Justin Florio vs. Lee Sandow

I had met Lee by trading online with him, and now I met him in person. I also realize that he is a card reviewer on this site, so I was pumped up for this match. Lee used Evo-Crushinator as well.

Match 1

The first match, Lee was very aggressive on offense. He killed every creature I could get out. Lee got Bolzard Dragon out destroyed me. He took my mana away and finished me off quickly. I was owned.

Match 2

Again, I was destroyed. I managed to get Barkwhip out, but he came to a quick end by Lee’s Ethel, Star Sea Elemental. Dark Titan Maginn was suicided on by his Bolzard Dragon. This round ended up with him still having four shields or so. I was owned worse than the first round.

                                                                                                2-2

Justin Florio vs. Matt

Match 1

Facing another Shadowclash deck, I got an early lead in mana with Silver Axe. I soon got Larba Geer out, right before he got his Missle Boy out. Too late Matt, you were owned. Four shields to none.

Match 2

This was another easy match. I got two Horrid Worms out fast, keeping his hand empty. He couldn’t play much. He got Trox out eventually, but I Coriled it. Then I played Dark Titan Maginn. Next round Barkwhip for the win. Three shields to none.

                                                                                                4-2

Justin Florio vs. AJ

Match 1

Facing another Shadowclash deck, I was hoping for a win. Well, that didn’t happen. This round, I got many creatures out, blasting his shields. The thing was, they were ALL shield triggers. His creatures outnumbered mine and I lost. Two shields to none.

Match 2

I was prepared this time. I stacked up my creatures, not attacking any shields. I got out cheap Horrid Worms and Essence Elves. I finally got enough creatures to take out his shields. The thing was, he was hitting my shields all this time. I was down to one shield and I could take him out this turn with my six creatures. I took out four shields no triggers. I was about to taste a victory… I attacked the last shield, and it was a Kolon. He tapped my last creature and finished me off on his turn.

                                                                             Final Stats  4-4

Well, I don’t think I did TOO bad for my first tournament. I guess I should have expected Lee would own me. LoL. He is the DM Guru over there. Well, mad props to the winner, Lee Sandow, with his excellently built deck. And to the second, third, and fourth place winners, good job on getting those Promos and packs. Grrrrr, I wanted those Marinomancers! Second place went to AJ, who owned me with Kolon. Third place went to Ramsey and Fourth place went to big Justin. Nice job guys. But we ALL got owned by the all lucky Lee Sandow. Way to go Lee.

Pros-

I landed an Ultracide Worm that I needed.

Cons-

No Marinomancer for me… GRRRRRRRRRR!

Lee beat me… What a surprise.

There were only 20 packs of Evo… Kyle, keep the store stocked! Jeeze!
