Mana Speed!

By Justin Florio

Galactic Quest, Lawrenceville GA

01/22/05

Hi, this is Justin again, writing yet ANOTHER boring tourney report which only people with no lives read (LOL Just Kidding). So really guys, today was a constructed tourney. Swiss scoring system, yada yada yada. The person with the most match wins, wins the tourney. So yea, here was my deck which I had made to annoy everyone. NOBODY liked speed attackers here at my venue       =)(=

Mana Speed!

Fire (11)

Twin-Cannon Skyterror x 3

Bombat, General of Speed x 4

Rikabu, the Dismantler x 4

Light (4)

Holy Awe x 4

Darkness (14)

Horrid Worm x 4

Chaos Worm x 2

Death Smoke x 4

Terror Pit x 4

Nature (15)

Bronze-Arm Tribe x 4

Burning Mane x 2

Barkwhip, the Smasher x 3

Poisonous Mushroom x 1

Natural Snare x 1

Mana Nexus x 4

I know, I know, the mana curve isn’t GREAT, but you know, you can’t always get what you want when you’re building a deck. On to the matches!

Round 1

Justin Florio vs. Patrick

Duel 1: This guy was running a nature water deck, and he went first. So, my deck was pretty much screwed. He was also running Obsidian Scarabs, which pissed me off sooo much, so I really had no choices in this match. Attack Scarab and let another one come out, or not attack and let it pound me to a pulp. So either way, I got wasted. I lost 2 shields to none.

Duel 2: I THOUGHT I had a better chance here, but I was VERY wrong. Now, I may have gone first and gotten some creatures out, but when I had no shield triggers, I knew I was extremely screwed. I lost 3 shields to none.

                                                                                                            0-2

Well, I didn’t start out well, so I knew I was screwed out of first or second place, which pissed me off, therefore leaving me no motivation to win my next matches. Well actually, Mr. Lee Sandow was there of course, so I wanted to crush his score. Lee needed to pay for that defeat he handed me at the Galactic Quest Buford Gamers’ Marathon. Good news for me, he lost 2 nothing to Slak in the first round, making him even with me. Plus, Austin was here, so I REALLY wanted to beat him for beating me in last week’s Survivor’s Draft. Austin had also lost 2 nothing in this first round. I hoped for the best in the next round.

Round 2

Justin Florio vs. Ace (or Aise? I couldn’t tell)

Duel 1: I knew this would be an easy match. This guy had just bought some packs before the tournament and thrown them in a deck. I brought out my speed attackers on this kid and destroyed him. The part where he could never get above 2 mana because of his own Sniper Mosquitoes was his downfall. I won 2 shields to none.

Duel 2: Again, I crushed this guy. Three of my Bronze-Arm Tribes came out this game, giving me my quick Twin-Cannon Skyterror, abosultely DEMOLISHING his shields. I won 5 shields to none.

See, I came back in the second round. Lee also got 2 wins this round, so I was getting kind of worried. Austin’s luck wasn’t getting much better, only winning one round out of the possible two. That sucker. I mean, poor Austin. After this match, he was complaining that this shouldn’t be an official DCI match because he didn’t want his ranking to go down (he said he was 5 of 6 in the state). So I was laughing in my mind. Ahahahahaha. Anyways, on to the next match!

                                                                                                            2-2

Round 3

Justin Florio vs. n00blet rush maniac

Duel 1: Again, I forgot a kid’s name, not that it is worth remembering considering his shi* talking before the match. I was ready to destroy him. Things were looking grim for me because he was rushing me with Brawler Zylers and Mini Titan Getts. And he got Valdios out on the fourth turn. I had 2 shields left after the fourth turn, making me very upset. I had been stacking up mana though, allowing me to get Twin-Cannon Skyterror out. Unfortunately for this kid, no card in his deck (except Billion-Degree Dragon which I would NEVER allow to last for more than one turn) could destroy my Skyterror. He got minor shield triggers, nothing that could stop me. He played creatures and I Smoked or Pitted them. I won 2 shields to none.

Duel 2: He couldn’t get anything out in time. My little Speed Attackers SLAMMED this kid. He was gone quickly. He only got 3 creatures out the whole game, which I ended up killing. I won 4 shields to none.

                                                                                                            4-2

Lee had also won his matches, keeping even with me. It was pissing me off. I’m not sure what Austin got this round or the next, but I know his end results, which I will tell you later. Well, I had my hopes up, but then Justin called out the match parings. Me vs. Slak.

Round 4

Justin Florio vs. Slak 4ss

Duel 1: This was a very close duel. We broke each other’s shields simultaneously. I eventually got speed attackers out, taking an advantage. Slak killed all my creatures though and went to my shields. I ended up with one shield left and he had none. I had a Barkwhip in my hand. It was his turn and he had Chaos Worm and Twin-Cannon Skyterror on the field. He attacked my final shield… Natural Snare. I snared the other creature that hadn’t attacked. Now, I drew for my turn… Bronze-Arm Tribe. I played BAT and evolved into Barkwhip, taking the win. I won no shields to none

Duel 2: This was pretty bad. He kept slaughtering my hand with his Horrid Worms as well and keeping my creatures out with his Crimson Hammers. I couldn’t hit much, only the shields I took with a few Speed Attackers. I lost 3 shields to none.

Duel 3: This was a lot better for me. Slak couldn’t get many creatures out. I kept drawing Speed Attackers, allowing me to pick off his shield one-by-one. As the duel continued, Slak got a few creatures out. I destroyed all Slak’s shields, but I had no more creatures on the field. As he took most of my shields down, I was getting worried. It was my turn, and I drew… Bombat, General of Speed. I speed attacked for the win. I won 2 shields to none.

                                                                                                            6-3

I commend you for your efforts Slak 4ss. I was tired of you beating my 4ss so many times. Yea, and don’t you deny it, you know you usually beat me. It just wasn’t your day. You’re still awesome Slak 4ss. As Mr. Lee Sandow says, I love you… in a non-sexual way of course… or is it non-sexual?

So, I ended up with 6 points. That was third place, but unfortunately, there was only first and second place. O well. O yea, like I said before, I will tell you Austin’s final score. He ended up with……. Drumroll Please… DUMDUMDUMDUMDUMDUMDUMDUMDUMDUMDUMDUM… 3! Bahahahaha! No offense Austin, but that is PATHETIC!!! I doubled your score. There goes your fifth place in the state. Ehe. I’m really evil and mean, aren’t I? I’m just in a bad mood because I feel cheated since I DID get third… O well. O yea, Lee tied with me at 6. That kinda disappointed me. I wanted to beat him, but o well. That is it guys. The winner was Tyler with an Evo-Deck and second place went to Justin using Mono-Green. Good job guys.

Pros:

Trading for Armored Blaster Valdios and other Super Rares

Beating Austin’s score and for Austin’s ranking about to go down

Cons:

Cheated out of a prize

Lee tied me… Grrrrr
