Hello again, readers of Pojo! I, Justin Florio, have gone to my second, that’s right, second tournament! So, today was the Survivors of the Megapocalypse Release Tourney! I arrived at Galactic Quest at 11:00 a.m., assuring that I would get the release Twin-Cannon Skyterror Promo. So anyways, I was there, I dueled a few people until the tournament director arrived. And of course, Mr. Lee Sandow, who smoked me in the last tourney (see Random Evo-Crush) was there. I was actually looking forward to dueling him. Now this was a five pack booster draft of Survivors of the Megapocalypse. It cost 20 dollars and you got a Duel Masters Binder and a Twin-Cannon Skyterror Promo. Swiss scoring system and so forth. Person with most wins at the end wins. So, on with my pulls!

Total – 33 Cards

My deck was sort of balanced, leaning towards the nature side. So anyways, we built our decks, and we started the duels.

Round 1

Justin Florio vs. Robert Holt

After this round, I realized the secret to winning… go first, explaining the title of this deck. So anyways here we go.

Duel 1: He brought out some fast creatures, I only had fatties in my hand. I ended up breaking all his shields eventually. He has broken all mine. I had a creature on the field and he didn’t. His turn, he draws a speed attacker and wins.

Duel 2: I got all my weenie hitters out and slaughtered him, 4 shields to none.

Duel 3: Again, he got wimpy creatures out and I couldn’t summon till the fourth turn, and I only had 2 shields left. He beat me, 3 shields to none.

                                                                                      1-2

I was disappointed in this match. I realized the person who went first wins, so I prayed to get to go first.

Round 2

Justin Florio vs. David F.

Same kid I dueled at the gamers’ marathon at GQ in my last tourney report. So, I wasn’t too worried.

Duel 1: All my survivors came out, he was destroyed. 4 shields to none.

Duel 2: Pretty much went the same way, but he got Vashuna and Twin-Cannon Skyterror out, but I still managed to get all his shields in time. I win, 1 shield to none.

                                                                                      3-2

So, my hopes were up, I could still make second.

Round 3

Justin Florio vs. Kid with Glasses

Sorry, I couldn’t remember your name. This guy started off telling me how much his deck sucked, and it prove true.

Duel 1: I rushed with my survivors. He managed to get some strong creatures out, but he hit my Aqua Surfer and Cannoneer Bargon, allowing me to get rid of his creatures, picking off his shields in the process. I won, 2 shields to none.

Duel 2: This duel was weird. Neither of us could get a card out until turn 4. He hit my shield trigger Aqua Surfer and that was it. Heavy hitters smashed each other and attacked shields, but once all the chaos was over, I was triumphant. I won, 1 shield to none.

                                                                                                                                                                                                              5-2

After this duel, I was VERY confident, but I was facing a person I didn’t know, so I didn’t really know what the outcome would be.

Round 4

Justin Florio vs. Slak 4ss

Duel 1: I was down a couple shields, but I managed to get out a couple survivors, rushing Slak with everything I had. I won the first round, 3 shields to none.

Duel 2: This duel was the same way, but opposite. He beat me down horribly. I lost, 3 shields to none.

Duel 3: This duel was very close. I ended up being down to no shields and he had one. I had my blocker survivor out as well as a Blazosaur and the unblockable survivor. This made me have 3 blockers. So anyways, it was his turn. He already had 2 survivors on the field. He drew and had no idea what to do. I was thinking, “Yes, I got him!” But then, he played the unblockable survivor, giving ALL his survivors UNBLOCKABLE. So, he attacked me, and I lost.

                                                                                                                                                                                                             6-2

This really pissed me off. Because later on, Slak told me that if some guy hadn’t said “Ooo, you have survivors on the field”, he wouldn’t have played that unblockable card. O well, life is tough.

Those were the four rounds I played. There ended up being a 7 way, that is right, 7 way tie for fifth place. One person had to leave, so it had to be a 6 way match. So, we played some really chaotic game that 2 people went at the same time. Every time someone did their turn, they had to pass a pen to the next player. If someone took to long, and obtained both pens at the same time, they lost. So, the key was speedy turns. Plus, you could only attack the person to your right or left.

Justin Florio vs. Austin vs. Ramsey vs. 3 little kids

The 3 little kids weren’t important, they lost right away. So anyways, I stacked up my creatures and took out Ramsey real fast, but he took 4 out of five of my shields. It was just me vs. the infamous Austin. Austin got the very rare light creature out, who is an infinite blocker. So, he stacked up some monsters. I managed to hit him with my Calgo, Vizier of Rainclouds and take out all but one of his shields. People were rushing me when Austin hit my last shield, so I didn’t realize that he could only attack me if his survivors were unblockable since I had the survivor blocker and 2 Blazosaurs on the field. The shield was Aqua Surfer, which I could have used to return the unblockable survivor, making him incapable of hitting me directly. But I didn’t realize it, and I lost. Austin one, 1 shield to none. So, that was it. I got a pack from randomly picking a card, and got jack in it. I cursed Austin’s packs before he opened them, and he got crap, which made me feel great. Hahahaha Austin, you may have beat me, but you got crap!

The Good!

Me pulling Billion-Degree Dragon and King Mazelan

Me trading for another Dual-Cannon Skyterror Promo

Me trading for Bladerush Wyvern

Getting a random pack

I beat Lee Sandow in points!!! HURRAY!!!

The Bad!

I was beaten by Austin

I didn’t get to face Lee and hand him a miserable defeat…

I used the rest of my money for the tournament… WAAAA!
