The second run of KMCs are
officially starting up again this weekend and my
team (Ragnarok) and I will be attending the KMC in
Akron, Ohio at ARG and there will be video coverage!
Make sure to stop by and say hello if you get the
chance and be on the look-out for some fun
innovative decks from yours truly! Alright, let's
continue to give your our "Shattered Alliances Top
Ten Countdown List"! Now, just so everyone knows
ahead of time, this list is a combination of others
opinions and in some cases some items I did not
choose. However, I am willing to review these cards
regardless as they all add a unique flavor to our
current metagame! Without further ado, number five
is: Death Liger the Justicar.
Name: Death Liger the
Justicar.
Civilization: Light/Darkness
Type: Creature
Race: Skyforce Champion/Shadow Champion
Level: 8
Power: 8500
Flavor Text: N/A
Rarity: Super Rare
Set Number: D1/D1 l 9SHA
Abilities:
(This card enters your mana zone tapped.)
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
Soul Rend- When this creature enters the
battle zone, target enemy creature gets -3000 power
until the end of the turn. (A creature that has 0 or
less is banished.)
Triumphant Roar- Whenever an enemy creature is
banished, tap target enemy creature.
First of all, here's a fun
fact: Justicar is actually a word! It essentially
means: A judge, however, in
medieval England and Ireland, the Justicar was
roughly equivalent to a modern-day Prime Minister
and would serve as the "Monarch's" chief minister.
Hmm, wonder if Wizards thought that one through? I
mean, this set just so happens to have the light and
darkness monarchs and Death Liger is a part of both
civilizations...
I was surprised to see this
card make the list (as it wasn't even on mine), but
it does have some excellent abilities. Death Liger
the Justicar is a level 8 Skyforce and Shadow
Champion, so it gives champion fans a bit more to
bite into while they're waiting for further support
in the upcoming sets. It has the standard Double
Breaker ability since he's over 6000 power and he
has two nifty abilities: Soul Rend and Triumphant
Roar.
Soul Rend is essentially an
ability that we've seen before via Shadeblaze
(except it was -2000 power) and Galzak. So he has
the potential to banish a weaker creature when you
first play him. At the very least you'll be able to
weaken a creature that is already tapped so that one
of your other guys can take it down. When you combo
this with his next ability, Triumphant Roar, you can
put in even more work. When you banish an enemy
creature you can tap another one of your opponent's
creatures! Probably one of the easiest ways to get
rid of Keeper of Laws.
Not sure what I mean? Let's say
you banish your opponent's Lux with Liger's Soul
Rend. You can then tap down another creature once
that creature has been banished. Much like the
ruling on Piercing Judgment, once you get rid of the
other creature that is essentially protecting
Keeper of Laws, you can tap it down and take it
down! This ability can send your opponent's forces
toppling in a domino fashion as long as you happen
to have a couple creatures or maybe even spells to
knock them down.
As of right now, I don't see
this card seeing a ton of play. It has the potential
to be an amazing card in a Skyforce Champion deck,
but the deck still needs some work before it becomes
overly competitive. If you are able to keep Justicar
in the battle zone, you have yourself one heck of
creature!
Constructed: 3.25/5.00
(A great card but requires a deck built around it to
really flourish. A bit slow getting out but can be
devastating once it is.)
Limited: 3.25/5.00 (Limited consists of this
deck versus this deck... I suppose whoever can get
it out first will likely win.)
Make sure to stop by again
tomorrow for Number 4 on our countdown! Until next
time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and
game on!
