Hey there everyone and welcome
to the last day for our card reviews this week here
at Pojo.com. Now, let's not get discouraged, we have
some fun plans in the upcoming weeks
so make sure you stay tuned for that! Today
we're looking at a card that debuted back in the
Dojo Edition and was a fairly solid card back then.
Let's take a look at Trox, General of Destruction.
Name: Trox, General of Destruction
Civilization: Darkness
Type:
Creature
Race: Shadow Champion
Level: 7
Power: 6000
Flavor Text:
"Flatten them." -The Choten
Rarity:
Very Rare
Set Number:
32/55 l 2DED
Abilities:
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
Cleaving Axe- Whenever this creature wins a
battle, banish target enemy creature that is level 4
or less.
Trox is a level 7 Shadow
Champion with 6000 power and Double Breaker. He has
an ability that allows him to punish your opponents
if they run numerous low costing creatures. If he
happens to win a battle, you get the option to
banish one of your opponent's level 4 or lower
creatures in the battle zone, it's like a built in
Bone Blades!
What made Trox great back in
the day was all of the low cost creatures that were
floating around like Aqua Seneschal, Razorhide,
Gigastand, and so on. This card would easily stifle
their attacks since they knew if they attacked, they
were going to lose two creatures instead of just
one.
Even back in the days of the
Dojo set, Trox lacked an extra push of power. Being
only 6000 power, it could be dealt with by Gran Gure
and other high powered cards. If you couldn't get
through to your opponent's shields or to their
smaller creatures, this card was often just sitting
there in the battle zone for what seems like an
eternity.
If you fast forward the game to
the present, Shadow Champions still don't really
have any real
support as of yet. They have introduced a lot of
new cards but nothing that really sets the deck
above others. Being able to take down a Blocker and
then banish another creature is a great combo,
however, it may be situational at times and there
are some better alternatives for a turn seven play.
This card requires more deck building and focus to
make it work effectively but could still pose a
threat against the right deck, like rush, if you can
live that long at least!
I don't expect to see this card
seeing an increased amount of play anytime soon,
however, with the introduction of the new
type "Corrupted," we may see a new version of this
card in the next set!
Constructed: 2.50/5.00 (A bit weaker for a level 7 but has the
potential to deal with a lot of key cards and
Blockers in most players decks.)
Limited:
2.00/5.00 (If you can't get rid of this guy with
a Blocker or a larger creature, then this card could
easily give you a win! It requires you to make it to
turn seven and wait a turn before being able to
attack, but can well be worth it in the long run.)
Thanks for stopping by
everyone! If you guys haven't had the chance to look
through all of the spoilers for Shattered Alliances
yet, you're missing out! Get ready to break open the
meta when the set hits stores tomorrow! Until next
time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and
game on!
