Hello again my fellow Duel
Masters! Speaking of Duel Masters, today's card art
comes from a very powerful card, Crystal Paladin.
Now the card is completely different from its
predecessor, so don't expect today's card,
Aqua-Reflector Nomulos, to be single handedly
winning you games when you play it. That doesn't
mean you can't do some shenanigans of your own with
it though!
Name: Aqua-Reflector
Nomulos
Civilization: Water
Type: Creature
Race: Aquan
Level: 6
Power: 2000
Flavor Text: N/A
Rarity: Rare
Set Number: 10/80 l 9SHA
Abilities:
Blocker
(You may tap this creature to change an enemy
creature's attack to this creature.
Guard (This creature can't attack.)
Frontline Recon- When this creature enters the
battle zone, you may draw a card.
Liquid Armor- If this creature would be
banished, return it to your hand instead.
Aqua-Reflector Nomulos is
another Aquan Blocker that can't attack under normal
circumstances. As expected, Nomulos has a couple of
abilities that are common to other Aquan creatures.
Whenever you play him, you have the option to draw a
card. Then if he would be banished, he instead
returns to your hand.
These abilities are great when
you put them together! A Blocker that never really
dies AND it draws you a card?! These notions
are great if the card was a little bit on the
cheaper side of the mana curve... instead, it sits
at a hefty level 6 and only has 2000 power on top of
that!
If this had been a level 4 or 5
with 3000 power it could have more applications in
different decks. I even think that Megabug decks
could utilize him off of Hive Queen's effect. Being
level 6 makes this really difficult to warrant
playing it outside of a draw-heavy deck. I suppose
if we get cards that become stronger if you have
more cards in your hand, this could fit right into
it. The only other option would be to utilize this
with the one evolution creature that Aquans have,
Aqua-Ranger Commander. You would be able to have a
reliable source of evo-bait and it would draw you a
card every time on top of that.
Personally I think there are
some better options in the form of Finbarr's
Dreadnought or even Hovercraft Glu-urrgle. With the
Dreadnought you're able to automatically draw two
cards and make it so every one of your other
creatures goes back to your hand if it would be
banished... and that's just for two more mana with
the addition of "Double Breaker" and 6000 power!
Don't get me wrong, if you're
able to get enough mana on board, you could create a
turn after turn loop of Nomulos. The only other deck
I could see this potentially fitting into would be a
Panopter/Blocker deck utilizing Rally the Reserves.
I could only imagine the amount of cards that would
be in your hand if you were playing that deck with
this guy!
Don't expect to see this guy
floating around anywhere outside of limited play in
the near future. But if you do, be prepared to be
temporarily annoyed with all of his recursion
antics!
Constructed: 2.00/5.00
(It never really dies but may make a cameo in the
mana zone or in a hand near you!)
Limited: 2.75/5.00 (It's nice to have a
Blocker that will stay alive, but it will easily
fall again and again to two or three drop
creatures... but maybe that's what you want so you
can draw more cards?)
I hope you enjoyed today's
review and remember to stay tuned this week for some
very special news! Until next time my
fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
