Hello again my fellow Kaijudo
Duel Masters! Sorry for the delay, I’ve been really
busy with finals approaching, but I’m still here!
Now if you’ve seen my article on Alter Reality
Games, you know I started talking about some of my
top ten cards from Invasion Earth… well, we’re going
to be doing that here too! However, there is a
difference between the two, so don’t think I’m just
going to copy and paste the same stuff. I’m
dedicated to making Pojo and ARG both unique
experiences for the readers, so without further ado,
let’s get started with my picks for the top ten
cards from Invasion Earth, starting with: Megaria,
the Deceiver.
Name: Megaria, the
Deceiver
Civilization: Darkness
Type: Creature
Race: Dark Lord
Level: 7
Power: 7000
Flavor Text: “You see, Allie, we’re going to
have so much FUN.”
Rarity: Super Rare
Set Number: S2/S10 l 10INV
Abilities:
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
Dark Gambit- When this creature enters the
battle zone, put the top 3 cards of your deck into
your discard pile. Then choose a card in your
discard pile at random. If that card is a
non-evolution creature, put it into the battle zone.
Otherwise, return it to your hand.
First of all, the art on this
card is sick! Megaria is back and this time she’s
bringing a friend! She is your standard level 7
creature with 7000 power and Double Breaker, which
is nice to be able to get over those pesky Dragons
out there. Being a Dark Lord really doesn’t give her
any support to work with so far, so we move on to
the most pressing aspect of this card, “Dark
Gambit.”
“Dark Gambit” is one of those
abilities that keep “variance” in this game.
Personally I think this is a far more balanced
version of it, but that doesn’t mean that it still
can’t be abused. With this ability you mill or send
the top three cards of your deck to the discard
pile, then you randomly choose a card from those and
you can either play it if it’s a
non-evolution creature or add it to your hand if
it’s not.
You could run a ton of bigger
creatures in your deck alongside cards that mill
from your deck like Gloom Tomb or Mark of Kalima.
Then you can use recursion cards to add weaker
creatures back from your discard pile to your hand
in order to leave only the strongest ones there!
Obviously it becomes a bit more difficult if you use
spell recursion, because those cards get mixed into
the mash as well. If you use cards like Scavenging
Chimera or Dracothane, you can set up your discard
pile more appropriately.
I’ve personally been able to
bring back Queen Kalima with this card before, which
is just silly. So Megaria has some huge potential to
launch quite the onslaught! No matter how you look
at it, Megaria will provide you with advantage. At
the very least you get to add a card from your
discard pile back to your hand, but in most other
cases, you get to play another creature for free! I
think we all know how powerful that can be after
looking at cards like Cyber Scamp or Burnclaw, the
Relentless.
One combo I’m going to mention
has already started to see some play and I think
it’s filling the hole in people’s hearts where
Bottle of Wishes once was, and that’s Veil Slip. If
you use Veil Slip on Megaria, you can get her effect
off for five mana! So if you happen to run a lot of
bigger creatures in your deck, you might be more
likely to succeed in bringing out a Monarch, just
like Bottle of Wishes used to… on turn five.
Overall, it’s a great card with
a lot of synergy with Darkness decks. It will
certainly see some play and I’m sure it will bring
out some ridiculous creatures from time to time. So
get ready for variance round 2!
Constructed: 4.00/5.00
(Any card that can give you another card for free is
great, but when it can put another creature in the
battle zone for free with almost no restrictions?
Seems pretty good!)
Limited: 4.50/5.00 (Limited play is extremely
slow in Invasion Earth. You will likely get to turn
3 or 4 before a player can even summon a creature,
making this card quite the powerhouse!)
I hope you enjoyed number ten
on my list, stay tuned when we take a more in depth
look at number nine! Make sure to check out my
article on Alter Reality Games’ website this Monday
as well! Until next time my fellow
Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
