It’s Wednesday and that means
that it’s time for another Card of the Day! I know,
I know… we do card reviews Monday through Friday,
but today’s special because it’s Wednesday! Today
we’re reviewing the ruler of all leviathans, King
Tsunami; let’s get started!
Name:
King Tsunami
Civilization: Water
Type:
Creature
Race: Leviathan
Level: 9
Power: 8000
Flavor Text:
The unfathomable ruler of all leviathans.
Rarity:
Super Rare
Set Number:
S5/S15 l
3RIS
Abilities:
Blocker
(You may tap this creature to change an enemy
creature’s attack to this creature.)
Double
Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)
King Tsunami is meant to be a ruler but what exactly
screams ruler
when you look at this card? I suppose it has Double
Breaker and 8000 power, but Blocker? When designing
this card I think they wanted a card that was huge
and would make it nearly impossible for your
opponent to get by this blocker with his overall
level of power. They forgot about one card, Comet
Missile.
Comet Missile puts all of your
hard work to summon this creature to waste. Sure
I’ll spend two mana to deal with your huge nine cost
creature! This is probably one of the largest flaws
with this card. If Comet Missile cost four mana to
play, this card would be a little more playable but
even so, it’s nine mana and he doesn’t even have
9000 power!
I’m really hoping for more
support for Leviathans in the future like Poseidon!
Perhaps if they create a Leviathan that gives all of
your other Leviathans an ability like King Neptas,
unable to be targeted by your opponents spells or
abilities. I really enjoy the art on this card and a
huge blocker that can also attack but it just tends
to feel a little underwhelming, especially if it’s
easily banished.
I really want to like this card
but it’s really difficult when the Kaiju realm is
telling me that this is the ruler of Leviathans and
he doesn’t have some kind of commanding or boosting
ability or just an effective ability in general. So
sorry Tsunami, you may be shiny, but you’re best
suited for the trade binder.
Ratings:
Constructed:
1.75/5.00 (The art is pretty cool but it’s just
too unreasonable to try to play this card outside of
a deck using Bottle of Wishes and even then, you had
better hope your opponent isn’t using the Fire
Civilization.)
Limited:
2.75/5.00 (Very slow to get out but a force to
be dealt with as long as your opponent wasn’t luck
enough to pull a Comet Missile or Crimson Wyvern!)
Make sure you stop back
tomorrow for our review or we’ll have your
hide! ;)
Until then, remember to keep calm and game on!
