Welcome to our Thursday edition
of Pojo.com's Card of the Day! Today we're
continuing our journey throughout the Aquan
territories and have found a card that could present
an alternative to anyone currently using Hydro Spy.
Let's take a look at Reef Scout.
Name: Reef Scout
Civilization: Water
Type: Creature
Race: Aquan
Level: 4
Power: 2000
Flavor Text: "We both learned things: I
learned the predator's weakness, and it learned that
I am not food."
Rarity: Common
Set Number: 26/110 l 7CLA
Abilities:
Blocker
(You may tap this creature to change an enemy
creature's attack to this creature.)
Guard (This creature can't attack.)
Subsea Recon- When this creature enters the
battle zone, you may draw a card.
Reef Scout is a level 4 Aquan
with 2000 power and also happens to have Blocker and
Guard, so don't expect it to do much in terms of
offense. This card may not seem like much but it can
set you up for more plays later on in the game. If
you are running a deck with a decent amount of Aquan
creatures, you can play Scout, draw a card, and then
potentially set yourself up for the turn five
Aqua-Ranger Commander! Much like the Emperor Neuron
play that can sometimes come out of nowhere, this
card can do the same thing, going from a weak
Blocker to a fierce unblockable Double Breaker!
I've recently heard some people
using this card in combination with Dracothane,
adding more versatility to his effects by picking
and choosing what you want to bring back, such as:
Reef Scout to draw a card and have a Blocker,
Rusalka to bounce an opponent's creature back to
their hand, Fumes to discard a card from your
opponent's hand, and so on.
Overall this card is pretty
good. Outside of tomorrow's card and Gladiator, this
is probably the next best Aquan card out there. At
the very least, this card is able to replace itself
upon summon, so it's not a total loss.
The biggest downside that I've
seen to this card though, has to be that it dies to
Suffocate, Barrage, Bone Blades, and it usually
can't even be played if your opponent has Infernus
the Awakened in the battle zone! This card obviously
has it's downsides but it also has it's upsides as
well and if you haven't tested out a hybrid variant
deck with Aquans and other similar creatures, you
don't know what you're missing!
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.25/5.00
(Probably the best Aquan to evolve into Aqua-Ranger
Commander! At the very least, it's a Blocker and it
drew you a card, so why not?)
Limited: 2.75/5.00
(Blockers are important in a limited format,
however, this is one of the weaker ones to choose
from regardless of whether it allows you to draw or
not. If you get a few copies of the evolution card,
then go for it!)
Stop out again tomorrow when we take a final look at
the Aquan race (for now) and take a closer look at
their commander! Until next time my fellow Kaijudo
Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
