Welcome back to Pojo.com's Card of
the Day! We are wrapping up the week with one more
shield blast that's had a lot of mixed reviews from
my area. Let's just get right to today's card,
Oathsworn Call.
Name:
Oathsworn Call
Civilization: Light/Nature
Type:
Spell
Race: N/A
Level: 5
Power: N/A
Flavor Text:
N/A
Rarity:
Rare
Set Number:
83/110 l 7CLA
Abilities:
(This card enters your mana zone tapped.)
Shield
Blast (Instead of putting this spell into your
hand from a broken shield, you may cast it for
free.)
Put a non-evolution creature that is level 6 or less
from your hand into the battle zone. It gets
"
Blocker"
until the start of your next turn. (You may tap a
creature that has "Blocker" to change an enemy
creature's attack to it.)
Oathsworn Call allows you to put
any non-evolution creature into the battle zone as
long as it's level 6 or less and also gives it
"Blocker" until your next turn. My biggest issue
starting out with this card is that it requires you
to have a hand. If this card is in your hand and you
intend on playing it on, oh, let's say turn five,
your resources will greatly be diminished by that
point leaving you with very few legitimate targets
in your hand if any. On the plus side, however, it
does allow you to potentially play a Level 6
creature on turn five or even sooner if it's hit
while in your shield zone.
Ideally where this card shines is
when it's been broken while in your shield zone and
becomes even more amazing if you're playing against
a Rush deck since it also gives your creature
"Blocker". Can you imagine your opponent attacking
you with a Blaze Belcher or Laser Arm Drakon and
then being able to bring out a Lyra?! This requires
more of a set up or just some plain old fashion luck
to really pull off... not every day can be "Magical
Christmas Land".
I've personally tried this card
out but have not really found a home for it
currently. As it stands, I still feel that Bottle of
Wishes is a better alternative to this card, but if
you have enough resources building and a large
enough hand, this card could be beneficial. This
card is great when in your shields and usually will
go to your mana zone if it ends up in your hand.
Ratings:
Constructed:
2.50/5.00 (Great against Rush decks but that's
about as far as it goes.)
Limited:
2.50/5.00 (Being able to advance a turn is
pretty good in limited but it usually requires you
to have more options in your hand first.)
Well, I hope you enjoyed our week of reviews and
hope you had a blast! Make sure to check out my
