Good day everyone! Are all of you as anxious as I am about the big “Organized Play Announcement” that we’re supposed to be getting within the next week from Wizards? My hopes are high and I’m looking forward to some competitive play in the near future! Alrighty, onto today’s Card of the Day, Emperor Axon.

Emperor Axon is a Level 4 Cyber Lord Evolution creature that requires you to evolve him from another Cyber Lord. He also has the “Double Breaker” ability as well as 6,000 Power. This card is very similar to Laser-Arm Drakon except instead of “Powerful Attack +2,000,” Axon has that power automatically; Laser-Arm requires a Drakon to evolve while Axon a Cyber Lord. So in the long run, you need to pay one more mana for a continuous boost advantage over Laser-Arm. So basically what this means for Water Civilization players is that they can get a little aggro in their deck builds.

A 6,000 body is pretty good for a Level 4… although there’s another that does it a lot better than axon, but we’ll discuss that further on Friday. He avoids Tornado Flame, Tendril Grasp, and Barrage, but still dies to the big removal spells and Bone Blades/Return to Soil. He can also trade off with Tatsurion and his unchained counterpart, while decimating Hydra Medusa, Laser-Arm Drakon, Emperor Neuron, Blastforge Captain, and many others!

Axon doesn’t give you any pure advantage though and that’s where he’s a little lackluster. If you’re looking for a cool effect when he enters the battle zone, you’re going to be disappointed. He adds a little more power to the Water Civilization decks but can feel a little underwhelming for an evolution at times when compared to Evo-Fury Tatsurion/Tekamora, The Wretched/Flamespike Tatsurion.

I don’t really see a lot of combos that abuse this card. For 1,000 more Power, an extra shield break, and an extra Level, I don’t think it’s really worth it in comparison to his little brother, Emperor Neuron. I suppose it is a vastly cheaper option than picking up three Neurons though… so if you’re on a budget, it’s worth using. Anyways, if you want to try him out, feel free, however, I wouldn’t recommend using more than one in a deck unless you’re making a super-aggressive-boiling-hot-teapot.dek.

Constructed: 2.75/5.00
(Axon is a cheap alternative to Neuron but has more difficulty creating advantage like his younger sibling.)

Limited: 3.75/5.00
(There are plenty of Cyber Lords in Evo-Fury Limited play. Also, evolutions play one of the biggest roles in a sealed environment; definitely worth using in this format.)

Stop back tomorrow for another review and make sure to bring your shades; it’s not the brightest idea to stare at this avatar of perfection.

Hello everybody! First of all, I wanted to apologize for my hiatus during the past week, but school recently started and this was unfortunately accompanied by multiple assignments and labs to do! I am actually really sad, since I missed yesterday’s COTD, Hydra Medusa, which is probably one of my favorite cards right now! Anyhow, enough about me and more about this Kaijudo COTD! The card that we will be discussing today is an evolution card named Emperor Axon.

Emperor Axon is a level 4 creature of the water civilisation and he evolves from the intelligent Cyber Lords! He has an attack power of 6000 and possesses two abilities:

Evolution — Put on one of your Cyber Lords.
Double Breaker (This creature breaks 2 shields.)

Emperor Axon brings a big body to the table, especially since he could come out on turn 4. This means that early in the game, you will be able to threaten to destroy two of your opponent’s shields! Furthermore, similarly to Emperor Neuron, he is able to evolve from the commonly played Cyber Sprites, Cyber Trader and even Aqua Seneschal, since Emperor Axon is a level 4 creature.

However, that is the only thing that makes Emperor Axon somewhat playable. Since he is not the only cyber lord evolution, he will often be compared to his comrade, Emperor Neuron and he almost always pales in comparison. Even though he can break two shields early on, the amount of advantage that Emperor Neuron could provide makes Emperor Axon very lackluster compared to it. Furthermore, with Rusalka, Aqua Chaser getting more and more play, mixed with the common Bones Blade, Heat Seekers Return to the Soils, and also Screeching Scaradorable, it will be very hard for the user to actually play Emperor Axon, since most of the time, all his evolution bait will be destroyed. Even if Emperor Axon is summoned, most of those cards would be able to take care of it also.

Summary:
Emperor Axon could be playable if you do not have any Emperor Neurons available if you are playing a Water/Darkness or Water/Nature deck, but if you do have access to Neuron, I wouldn't really bother playing this card.
