Welcome to our Friday Card of
the Day review brought to you by Pojo.com! Today
we’re going to look at one of the first Super Rare
cards we saw when Kaijudo was launched in stores and
into our hearts. Okay, maybe not quite, but this was
one of the first Super Rares and marketed this game
fairly well! Here we are almost a year later and the
game is stronger than ever before! Alright, let’s
get started with our review of Razorkinder.
Name: Razorkinder
Civilization: Darkness
Type:
Creature
Race: Evil Toy
Level: 7
Power: 4000
Flavor Text:
“Okay, you’re terrifying.” -Allie
Rarity:
Super Rare
Set Number:
S1/S2 l 1TVR
Abilities:
Grab and Stab-
When this creature enters the battle zone, banish
target untapped enemy creature.
First a little bit of culture
and history! Did you know that “Kinder” literally
translates into “Children”? Yeah… that’s where
Kindergarten came from too! So Razor Children…
doesn’t quite seem right does it? Maybe that’s why
this card is classified as an “Evil Toy”?
Alright, when this card first
came out our biggest form of removal was Death Smoke
and Terror Pit. Since most creatures weren’t all
evolutionary
and stuff back then, they often entered the battle
zone and had to chill there for a turn before they
could attack. Cards that could banish a creature in
this position were pretty good and that’s where
Razorkinder comes into play. For just two more mana
than Death Smoke, you get a 4000 power creature
added to the mix, which is pretty good overall. This
guy was one of our main forms of netting advantage
against our opponent and their bigger creatures like
Tatsurion.
Enter Evo Fury… this guy lost a
ton of playability. Too many creatures were evolving
and attacking the same turn they hit the field and
made it near impossible to utilize Razorkinder’s
effect. This card and Death Smoke started seeing
less and less play in the tournament scene, at least
in my area.
Looking toward the future we
have the set DragonStrike Infernus. This set has
tons of huge and overpowered creatures that will
often have to sit on the field for a turn before
they can do anything. Welcome back Razorkinder and
Death Smoke! These cards
will see
play again to deal with these impending threats and
will give Darkness an extra push in the competitive
scene.
Ratings:
Constructed: 3.75/5.00 (Once DragonStrike Infernus hits shelves,
this card will see a bit more play unless of course
the new set gives us even better removal than we
currently have.)
Limited: 2.00/5.00 (In a limited format of Tatsurion VS Razorkinder,
this card is pretty nice! It gives you a creature
and a form of removal all in one card.)
That does it for this week’s
Card of the Day. Make sure to stop back on Monday
for even more reviews and maybe even some previews
too! Until next time, keep
calm and game on!
