Welcome back my fellow Kaijudo
Duel Masters to another edition of Pojo’s Card of
the Day! Make sure you stop and check out my YouTube
page for new videos and easier navigation for those
of you who are only interested in Kaijudo. Today
we’ll be reviewing an underplayed Super Rare from
the Rise of the Duel Masters set that could find its
place as a tech in specific decks. Let’s get started
with Megaria, the Collector.
Name: Megaria, the Collector
Civilization: Darkness
Type:
Creature
Race: Dark Lord
Level: 8
Power: 3000
Flavor Text:
“Rules? There are no rules in Darkness.”
-Dark Lord
Megaria
Rarity:
Super Rare
Set Number:
S9/S15 l
3RIS
Abilities:
Reassemble
Minions- When this creature enters the battle
zone, choose up to 2 creatures in your discard pile
and return them to your hand.
Megaria is extremely
underpowered for her Level and stats. It is actually
very reminiscent of when I reviewed Crimson Wyvern
actually; Level 8 for 3000 power and it can only
break one shield at a time. The key component to
using this card, much like Wyvern, is to use it as
if you were playing a spell. It’s just a small bonus
that you actually get a creature to accompany the
effect.
So the question becomes, is an
8 cost spell worth playing when I can play two Dark
Returns for 4 mana? It all depends on what kind of
deck you’re running. This is a nice card to throw
down when you’re fishing for some of your evolution
cards that were banished a few turns ago. It also
fits right in to Mono-Darkness and the idea of
continually adding cards from your discard pile back
to your hand.
If this card was playable
before, it recently lost some of its hype with the
recent preview of Dreadclaw, Dark Herald from the
DragonStrike Infernus set. This card is pretty much
better than Megaria in every way except you don’t
get to choose any two creatures; instead you add ALL
dragons in your discard pile to your hand! Needless
to say, Megaria may be a little outclassed in our
upcoming environment.
I think what would have made
Megaria a better card is if you could choose any two
cards from your discard pile and add them to your
hand. That or choose two Darkness Civilization cards
and add them to your hand. So until we see some more
Dark Lord support, Megaria may be sitting on her
throne for quite some time to come.
Ratings:
Constructed: 2.25/5.00 (Megaria still has her functionality but
doesn’t deliver a game changing effect or a massive
body of power. Who’s to say that you’ll even have
two creatures in your discard pile when you play
Megaria!)
Limited: 2.00/5.00 (I suppose Megaria can provide you with advantage
against your opponent if they have constantly been
hitting you with Specter Claws, Fumes, and
Razorkinder Puppets!)
Make sure to stop back tomorrow
when we take another look at what the Darkness
Civilization has to offer us. Until next time, keep
calm and game on!
