Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Pojo.com's Card of the Day! Today we're taking a look at one of the cheapest costing spells in the game that has yet to see a lot of play since its emergence about a year ago. Let's take a look at Covering Fire.

Name: Covering Fire
Civilization:
Light
Type: Spell
Race:
N/A
Level:
1
Power:
N/A
Flavor Text: The enforcers fired blast after blast, forcing Megaria's minions to seek cover. None of the Darkness creatures noticed as they were outflanked.
Rarity: Common
Set Number: 4/165 l 3RIS

Abilities:

Choose one of your creatures. It can't be blocked this turn.

This is one of those cards that is a potential game ender if played at the right time. This turns any one of your creatures into an Emperor Neuron, well sort of...

Seeing as this card only costs one mana to play, it's incredibly easy to tech in and use the same turn you play another creature or spell. If that creature happens to have Fast Attack, even better! Now with the recent reveal of Eternal Haven, I think I can safely say that Blockers are going to see a lot more play in the current environment. With that being said, cards like this and the far superior Portal Tech, have the potential to see some play. If you're staring down huge Blockers and you just need one or two more attacks to win, this card could do it for you.

There are also cards out now and that will be coming out that gain effects/power/etc when you play a spell card. So this could be a very easy spell to cast to gain those abilities. Overall this card hasn't seen much play in constructed and it could be decent in limited if you have to find room for an extra card or two. There are better options but this is by far the cheapest one out there.

Ratings:

Constructed: 1.75/5.00 (There are a lot of better choices out there. At least consider using Portal Tech before you use this card.)
Limited: 2.00/5.00 (You could get your game winning move with this card but it's pretty situational.)

Thanks for stopping by everyone! Make sure to check out my channel for new content including my "Master Commentator" contest video! Until next time my fellow Kaijudo Duel Masters, keep calm and game on!
